🛑 Grammar Rules Explined
This lesson introduces two vital concepts in Arabic grammar: Prepositions and Pronouns.
1. The Prepositions (حُرُوفُ الْجَرِّ)
The lesson focuses on two prepositions:
فِي (fee):
Inعَلَى ('alaa):
OnThe Rule: In Arabic, when a noun stands alone, it usually ends with a Dammah (ـُ / الْبَيْتُ). However, when a preposition comes before a noun, it forces the last letter of that noun to change to a Kasrah (ـِ / فِي الْبَيْتِ). This state is called Majroor.
2. Pronouns (الضَّمَائِرُ)Unlike English, where things are called "it," Arabic objects are either grammatically masculine or feminine.
هُوَ (huwa): Used for He (people) or It (masculine objects like a book or desk).
هِيَ (hiya): Used for She (people) or It (feminine objects, usually ending with a ة like a watch/clock).
