Annual Sports Day 2026

The Annual Sports Day was held on 20th May 2026 under floodlights, making it a unique and memorable event. The Chief Executive/Principal Maj Gen Nadeem Fazal (Retd),HI(M) CMH Lahore Medical College & Institute of Dentistry graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Prof. Dr. Arham Chohan, Staff President Sports, received the Chief Guest and presented him with a bouquet. The event formally commenced with the flag hoisting ceremony by the Chief Guest, followed by the National Anthem. After the recitation from the Holy Quran, students from different classes participated in an impressive march past. The male and female athletes carried the sports torch, which was later handed over to the Chief Guest for the ceremonial lighting. Following this, the Chief Guest officially declared the Sports Day open. The sports competitions began with races among different classes, several of which had very close finishes. The students participated with great enthusiasm, discipline, and true sportsmanship. The male and female faculty races were also well participated, while the female faculty musical chairs event remained a major attraction for the audience. At the conclusion of the event, a prize distribution ceremony was held. Medals and trophies were awarded to the winners. The maximum points were secured by 4th Year MBBS, which was declared Class of the Year. Trophies were also awarded to the Best Male and Female Athletes. The event concluded successfully with refreshments, leaving behind wonderful memories of teamwork, healthy competition, and sportsmanship.

We successfully conducted the second session of the workshop “Mentorship: the Scaled-Up Trajectory” on 21 May 2026 for mentors from the BDS and SAHS programmes.

The session was facilitated by Prof. Dr. Amina Ahmad (Dean SHaPE), Prof. Dr. Ansa Rabia (HOD Anatomy & Head of the Mentorship Program), Dr. Rizwana Kamran (Associate Professor SHaPE & Head LQEC), and Dr. Irum Mansoor (Assistant Professor Behavioral Sciences).

The workshop focused on strengthening mentorship practices in health professions education, enhancing mentoring skills, addressing common mentoring challenges, and equipping mentors with metacognitive strategies to support undergraduate learners.

The session was attended by Assistant Professors, Associate Professors, and senior faculty mentors from the BDS and SAHS programmes. Chief Executive / Principal Maj Gen Prof. Dr. Nadeem Fazal (R), HI (M), TI (M), also joined the workshop and shared valuable insights on the role of mentorship in fostering learner success and professional growth.

The interactive discussions and active participation reflected our continued commitment to faculty development and excellence in mentoring.

MEDEXPO 2026 – A Celebration of Undergraduate Research Excellence at CMH Lahore Medical College

The Student Research Club (SRC) of successfully organized MEDEXPO 2026 on Saturday 9th May, a vibrant one-day undergraduate research conference aimed at promoting scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and academic collaboration among medical students.

The conference brought together enthusiastic young researchers from various institutions, providing them with an excellent platform to present innovative ideas and showcase their scholarly work. More than 100 students registered for the event, reflecting the growing interest in undergraduate medical research and evidence-based learning.

MEDEXPO 2026 featured three major competitive categories:

• Oral Research Presentation Competition
• Research Poster Competition
• Differentials & Deception (a team-based clinical reasoning competition)

A total of 15 oral presentations and 25 research posters were presented during the conference. Participants demonstrated remarkable dedication, analytical skills, and scientific creativity while presenting research on a wide range of clinical, public health, and basic medical science topics.

The oral presentation sessions were conducted before panels of experienced faculty judges who evaluated the studies on scientific merit, presentation quality, methodology, originality, and practical relevance. The poster competition provided an interactive academic environment where participants discussed their research findings with faculty members, peers, and guests.

The conference was attended by faculty members, researchers, and students who appreciated the professionalism, confidence, and research potential displayed by the participants. MEDEXPO 2026 served as an important academic initiative to nurture a culture of research and innovation among future healthcare professionals.

The management of CMH Lahore Medical College & Institute of Dentistry, faculty mentors, organizing committee, and members of the Student Research Club deserve special appreciation for their dedicated efforts in making the conference a great success.

MEDEXPO 2026 concluded with a prize distribution ceremony in which outstanding oral and poster presentations were recognized and awarded by Patron-in-Chief Maj. Gen. Prof. Nadeem Fazal. The staff president of SRC Prof. Tahseen Haider presented a vote of thanks. He emphasized that the event reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to fostering academic excellence, scientific curiosity, and student-led research initiatives.

The Department of Operative Dentistry and Endodontics at CMH Lahore Medical College & Institute of Dentistry organized an interactive FCPS Part II panel discussion aimed at facilitating candidates appearing in the upcoming examination. The session brought together experienced examiners namely Dr Badar Munir, Prof Dr Rubab Sherazi, Prof Dr Sobia Tirmizi ,Dr Saira Zarrar and Col Dr Jawad Ali and recently qualified fellows Dr Fariha Choudry and Dr Faizan Haroon to provide valuable guidance regarding long case presentations, viva techniques, diagnostic approaches, treatment planning, and effective exam strategies. Through case-based discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and practical tips, the activity offered candidates an opportunity to enhance their clinical presentation skills, improve confidence, and gain insight into the expectations of the examination panel in a supportive academic environment.

The Certificate Distribution Ceremony for the Certificate in Medical Teaching (CMT) was successfully held on 20 May 2026 at CMH Lahore Medical College & Institute of Dentistry.

The certificates were distributed by Maj Gen Prof. Dr. Nadeem Fazal (R), HI (M), TI (M), Chief Executive / Principal, who congratulated the participants on successfully completing the programme and appreciated their commitment to advancing excellence in health professions education.

This achievement reflects the dedication and hard work of our participants, the invaluable guidance of our facilitators, and the collective efforts of the SHaPE team in delivering a high-quality learning experience. We extend our sincere appreciation to all those who contributed to the success of this programme.

The Certificate in Medical Teaching (CMT) is a six-month blended learning programme designed to develop competencies in teaching, assessment, curriculum development, educational leadership, and educational scholarship. The programme is equivalent to the Certificate in Health Professions Education (CHPE), accredited by King Edward Medical University (KEMU), and recognised by the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PM&DC).
