A verb is the nucleus of a sentence. A sentence without verb is just like a fish without water. A verb either expresses action or a state of being as can be seen in the following examples. Students, must bear in mind, in the absence of main verb, the auxiliaries act as main verbs.

A paragraph is a unified piece of writing which discusses only one main topic. The topic of the paragraph is introduced by the topic sentence. The topic sentence is usually a claim followed by supporting details and illustrations. Paragraphs that are not sufficiently substantiated are not considered healthy paragraphs. In the following paragraph, the opening sentence is the topic sentence, and all the proceeding sentences support the topic sentence.

The transitive and intransitive verbs may be used interchangeably. The following examples show that the intransitive verbs may be used transitively.

A transitive verb is a verb in which the action is transferred from subject to the object. However, some transitive verbs may also be used intransitively.

If the collective noun conveys the idea of separate individuals comprising the whole, the pronoun standing for it must be of the plural number. Consider the following examples.

Comma separates words used in series of a similar kind or the same parts of speech like two nouns, verbs or adjectives. Let us consider the following sentences where nouns, verbs and adjectives are separated by comma.
