THE TEST OF FOOD.
Once Mawlana Shaykh Hisham and Shaykh Adnan went to the house of Grandshaykh in Damascus driving all the way from Lebanon.When they entered inside , Grandshaykh Abdullah Al Faiz ad Daghestani was sitting there and said "you must be tired , so I am going to make some food for you."Grandshaykh had a small windy room outside his house , near the porch, there was no refrigerator so he used to dry fresh meat in the sun and keep it there.Soon the food came and they put it down in front of Mawlana Shaykh Hisham and Shaykh Adnan. As soon as they brought the dish , the smell of the meat in the room became unbearable.One could vomit just from the smell.Mawlana Shaykh Nazim was sitting but behaving as if not to see or smell anything.It was a test.Grandshaykh was laughing as if nothing was there But one could literally feel the smell as if something had died in the streets outside days ago.Both of them were looking at each other at what to do. They felt as if they would vomit , Grandshaykh put the dish in the middle and said , "Bismillah , eat !"They looked at that meat and one could see thousands of white worms , crawling inside , coming and going , in the meat ! Maggots.Grandshaykh said EAT ! What can one do ? Grandshaykh and Mawlana Shaykh Nazim were not eating but just looking. If they didn't eat they would be thrown out as it was a test.Both the brothers were looking at each other on what to do.Mawlana Shaykh Nazim was indicating with his eyes "DO IT " ! Then they took a piece of smelly meat.The maggots crawling on their hands and fingers.And as soon as they said Bismillah ar Rahmaan ar Raheem and put it in their mouths , all the maggots disappeared ! The smell changed and became good ! Everything changed , that meat melted in the mouths it was so tasty . Just after that Grandshaykh took one piece and Mawlana Shaykh Nazim took another piece .
