The Faculty of Allied Health Sciences successfully conducted a workshop on " Polysomnography " on 10 June 2026 for students of BS Respiratory Therapy (BSRT) and other allied health sciences programs. The workshop provided an excellent learning opportunity to explore the principles and clinical applications of sleep medicine and diagnostic sleep studies.

The workshop aimed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of polysomnography, including sleep study procedures, monitoring techniques, interpretation of sleep parameters, and the role of sleep technology in diagnosing sleep-related disorders.

The session was conducted by Iram Shafaqat Ali, RT, RPSGT, ESRS, Somnologist Technologist, from the Kuwait Sleep Medicine Center, Farwaniya Hospital, Ministry of Health (MOH), Kuwait. Drawing on her extensive clinical experience, she shared valuable insights into sleep study setup, scoring, interpretation, and the management of sleep disorders.

The workshop was highly interactive and offered students a unique opportunity to enhance their knowledge of sleep medicine and polysomnography. Participants actively engaged in discussions and gained practical understanding of modern sleep diagnostic techniques.

At the conclusion of the workshop, Dr. Hareem Hamid, Director, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, presented a token of appreciation to Ms. Iram Shafaqat Ali in recognition of her valuable contribution and dedication to advancing education in sleep medicine.

The Faculty of Allied Health Sciences successfully conducted a workshop titled "Decode the Waveforms and Optimize Ventilation" on 9 June 2026 for students of BS Respiratory Therapy (BSRT) and BS Emergency and ICU Technology.

The workshop aimed to enhance students' understanding of ventilator waveforms, mechanical ventilation strategies, and the interpretation of respiratory monitoring data in critical care settings. Students gained valuable knowledge about optimizing ventilation and improving patient outcomes through effective waveform analysis.

The session was conducted by Muhammad Shoaib, a Senior Respiratory/Sleep Physiologist at NHS Foundation Trust, UK and a distinguished alumnus of the department. He shared practical knowledge and clinical insights on ventilator waveform interpretation, patient-ventilator interaction, and optimization of ventilation in clinical practice.

The workshop was highly interactive and provided students with an excellent opportunity to strengthen their theoretical knowledge and clinical understanding of respiratory care. Students actively participated in discussions and benefited from the speaker’s professional experience.

At the conclusion of the workshop, Director Allied Health Sciences, Dr. Hareem Hamid, presented a token of appreciation to Muhammad Shoaib in recognition of his valuable contribution and commitment to sharing his expertise with future healthcare professionals.
