The Precious Years is a blog platform for me to share my experiences as a wife and mother and all other aspects relating to women.

I am a simple and an average mom trying my best to raise unique and above-average kids while trying to maintain a household, business and homeschooling. The best years of my life have been since I became a mother. I would like to share my insights, lessons learned, life experiences with others if it would provide value to them.

Being busy is a choice. Getting stressed is a choice. Welcoming happiness is a choice. Choose well!

“Everything you do is by choice. It may not seem so, but it is…” – Louise Hay

Life can be undeniably, impossibly difficult. We are faced with challenges and events that can seem overwhelming, life-destroying to the point where it may be hard to decide whether to keep going. But we always have a choice.

This life is a gift if you want to accept it. So make your choices wisely in how and who you spend it with. No matter what the obstacle, you can make your life abundant with joy and you can live authentically.

“If parents want to give their children a gift, the best thing they can do is to teach their children to love challenges, be intrigued by mistakes, enjoy effort, and keep on learning. That way, their children don’t have to be slaves of praise. They will have a lifelong way to build and repair their own confidence.”

Story time - Today as we were walking into the office, one of the guards asked one of our partners, do the kids really work at the office? He answered, they are a owner too so yes they work. The guy looked shocked.

It took me 25+ years to get away from fixed mindset to growth mindset and here we are teaching our kids and enabling them to have hands on experience at learning a skilled profession and entrepreneurship.

There are days, I stay awake wandering if the sacrifices we make are worth it…but when I see the girls working, proudly sharing about their internship role and seeing the ups and downs we go through with running a business…I know regular homeschooling or school couldn’t have given them as much exposure and experience.

When learning is free of pressure and full of possibility a crazy thing will happen, your child may actually enjoy it.

My kids, my home, my homeschool, my life, my journey will not look like yours…isn’t that what makes it so special. We get to take peak in the different lives and take wisdom from others that fits in our life…

When I first started homeschooling everyone told me I couldn't do it. Same with starting a business. Now 9 years later I have no regrets. However, it wasn't easy. I had to endure long hours of hard work and patience. Some days I thought of quitting but I'm grateful for my husband who always told me "No sacrifice, no victory".

As a mom of two girls I want them to grow up with the mindset of being able to do whatever they set their mind to. I want them to grow up in a world where they're NEVER undervalued or underestimated.

I operate a company in a country and domain that is primarily male dominated. But I am proud to have many women that are part of my leadership team in our Lahore office and create a safe environment for them. I am thankful that the male team members treat the women with respect. I’m grateful my girls are able to stand by me and see the change that we’re making.

Looking back I can’t believe l’ve made it this far and I am proud of myself and the powerful men and women I work with who stand for equality.

Girl, if you have a dream go chase it! Even if you feel like you can’t do it you can. Because I sure as hell didn’t think I could.

Thank you to all the women who inspired me to chase my dreams and achieve my goals. Happy International Women’s Day!

What do you think, when you hear “unschooling”? Well, I used to think, it’s where kids do not have any routine or structure. Never say never!

Several years into our homeschooling and I think we now fall into that gray area of unschool or relaxed school.

My girls spend each day immersed into projects, researching, reading, writing stories, creating, problem solving amongst many other things!

But how do I make them do all these pretty much on their own? Well it’s the years of consistent guidance, making them understand what is responsibility and accountability and letting them be part of making their own schedule.

✨Use a planner that a student can use easily and navigate. We use
✨ Use timers to keep them on track
✨Allow frequent small breaks
✨Get the hard tasks out of the way first
✨Stay consistent with rhythm & routines
✨Work hard, play harder concept
✨Empower them to be responsible

Any questions on this? We can definitely do a thorough video or live with the girls.

I am talking about our homeschool style in detail amongst 40 other homeschool in the homeschool conference. 🔗 in Bio!

Being a mom will always be my most favorite occupation. After a month of playing a "single working woman" role, I am back my calling of being a mom.😊

I won't say I didn't enjoy the extra time I had to take care of me but a big part was always missing that kept me up at nights trying to match the girls time to hang out and homeschool.

It has been a difficult week trying to get them settled in Lahore actually hubby has been more difficult. 😅. But it was a good weekend of relaxation, spending time together and getting back into a rhythm.

Our days are always chaotic (running multiple businesses and it never goes as expected) but rhythm helps us keep normalcy and act as a guide for the day.

Hope you have a great Sunday and wishing you an awesome week ahead.

How do you get your kids to listen to you? I could say countless amazing answers but since we are friends, the simple answer is that "I LISTEN TO THEM." Save the post for the 3 important steps.

I am a human and there are always times I regret that I could have done a better job at listening to them. But I have worked hard to create an welcoming enviroment for the girls to talk without feeling they will be judged or hurt my feelings.

Teach by example, when you listen to them then they willl also listen to you...maybe not everytime but most times, specially when it matters. It may take several tries but consistently being available to them will allow you to build the relationship.

What do you struggle with the most with listening to your kids? I will share mine in the comments.

Do you believe in happy endings? Happily ever after?

I love watching my daughters pretend play…they tell the best stories as they play. If I pay close attention I can see them reenact so many lessons they have learned through just observing.

As the years passes life doesn’t get easier but becomes more complicated. But the girls reminds me about about magic and that I have the power to turn things around.

Maybe the magic is prayer or meditation or workout…but I want to believe that ease always comes after hardship!

Do you have days when you just feel tired where every little action requires a huge push?

I feel this a lot where I feel so spent that just getting out of bed seems tasking. Then on flip side, sometimes I will stay up late nights and early mornings with a huge smile on my face.
I recently read a quote… “You’re not tired…you’re uninspired” Pffff and it made all the sense. When there is lot of noise around me that weighs heavy on my mind…I feel exhausted and spent.

As I am trying to grow from within to be a happier me, I discovered few ways I can control my emotions that will help me and not bring me down.

No matter what role we play (homeschool mom, working mom, stay at home mom), being tired come with the territory with everything life throws at us. But it does not have to be our entire story because we pen our story. Here are few changes that have helped me and I hope it does the same for you. If you found this helpful, please share so we can all benefit.

✨Healthy eating and physical habits
✨Setting healthy boundaries
✨Saying No to anything that does not help us with achieving our goals
✨Prioritize inspiration and goals but do not chase them
✨Follow it up with an action…even if small that shows you that you are working towards your goals
✨Pray..meditate..whatever helps you to BREATHE

If these posts help you even a tiny bit, please Like and Comment so I know to share more of my experiences into becoming a balanced and content person.

Lots of love,

Sayeda
