In a landmark move for sports education in Pakistan, the Inter Boards Coordination Commission (IBCC), Learning Resource Network (LRN), iLearn, and the UK-based Lewis School of English have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to launch internationally recognised Cricket Coach Management qualifications across schools and academies in Pakistan.

The MoU was formally signed by Dr Ghulam Ali Mallah, Chairman of IBCC, and Mohammad Yousuf, legendary cricketer and former captain of Pakistan, who will serve as Supervisor of Cricket Coach Education for the programme. The signing reflects a shared commitment to promote innovation and expand co-curricular learning opportunities within the academic sector.

The qualifications, developed and awarded by LRN, will be delivered nationally through iLearn’s education network, with academic support from the Lewis School of English, UK.

This marks the first time in Pakistan’s history that cricket coaching will be delivered through a formal, internationally benchmarked qualification pathway.

Mohammad Yousuf, former Pakistan captain and national coach, said:
"I’m proud to be part of this historic project. Cricket has always been a passion for millions in Pakistan. Now, we are giving young people the opportunity to pursue it academically and professionally. This programme will build a generation of educated coaches and leaders in the sport we all love."

Dr Ghulam Ali Mallah, Chairman of IBCC, stated:
"We are pleased to collaborate on initiatives that encourage innovation and growth in education. This partnership reflects a forward-looking approach to supporting co-curricular development and preparing students for diverse futures."

Dr Muhammad Zohaib Tariq, Chief Executive of Learning Resource Network, added:
"At LRN, we aim to deliver qualifications that create real change. Cricket is not just a sport in Pakistan — it’s a way of life. We are proud to contribute to its future by setting global standards in cricket education."

The ceremony also saw the signing of a second MoU between iLearn, Lewis School of English, and IBCC. This agreement focuses on providing UK-based teacher training and leadership development for schoolteachers and examination board professionals from Pakistan.

Under this partnership, selected educators and exam board officials will undertake training and exposure visits to the United Kingdom, facilitated by Lewis School of English and coordinated by iLearn. The aim is to build institutional capacity, strengthen classroom practice, and align educational leadership with international standards — all while fostering global collaboration in education.
