Special Education and Training Centre Educational, Vocational and Rehabilitiation Services so, in order to fulfill these needs a project of SETC was launched in Lahore.

Special Education and Training Center (SETC) was founded in 1981 as the first and primary project of the National Society for Mentally and Emotionally Handicapped Children (NSMEHC). NSMEHC was founded in 1979 by a small group of people including psychiatrist, psychologist, social workers and other members of the community who committed to improve the children with learning disability and advocatin

g their rights and needs. Although, at that time there was some public awareness of the condition but, there were little or no services available to meet the needs of the children. Being the primary project SETC was started in a small rented accommodation in central Lahore with the objective to provide educational, vocational, and rehabilitation services to children with special needs. Due to unprecedented demands the center was moved to larger and larger premises. eventually, the society constructed its purpose-built building in expending area of Johar Town. this center provides specialized learning support for more than one hundred and eighty children with special needs. SETC is not only focusing on the special children but, under 'Jhuggi Madarsa' there are more than 500 normal students who are getting main stream education till class 8th. Under another project of SETC 'Chalta Phirta Madarsa' those children who can not reach the center for training are trained and rehabilitated at their doorsteps.
