๐ฒ Professional Development Highlight โ Dendrochronology Lab ๐ฒ
The Dendrochronology Lab proudly announces that its Incharge, Dr. Sohaib Muhammad (Assistant Professor, Department of Botany GCUL), has successfully participated in an advanced Dendrochronology Summer school under the supervision of internationally recognized experts in the field, Dr. Ramzi Touchan and Dr. David M. Meko (Laboratory of Tree-Ring Research, LTRR).
This specialized training focused on state-of-the-art dendrochronological methodologies, including high-resolution tree-ring analysis, climate variability reconstruction, and the application of dendrochronology in environmental and climate change research. The knowledge and expertise gained from this international workshop will play a vital role in enhancing the scientific capacity and research excellence of the Dendrochronology Lab.
We commend Dr. Sohaib Muhammad for this significant professional achievement and remain confident that this experience will strengthen our academic output, research innovation, and international collaboration.

We are proud to announce the publication of a new research article by one of our dedicated PhD students, Mr. Ali Ahmad Bajwa on using woody perennial trees as bio-indicators of air pollution in Gujranwala. He is under the supervision of Dr. Sohaib Muhammad. Assistant professor, Department of Botany GCUL
๐ Article Title: Woody perennials as bio monitor of air pollution around brick kilns in per-urban ecosystem using pollution tolerance indices"
๐ The study highlight how woody perennials can act as bio-indicators: reflecting the state of urban air pollution around brick kilns and helping us plan greener, healthier city landscapes.
๐ Huge congratulations to the researcher and the whole team of lab.! And Department of Botany GCU Lahore. This is a big step forward
in urban ecology & environmental management for Gujranwala.

Our study tour to the beautiful Galiyat region of Murree focused on dendrochronologyโthe study of tree ring patterns to understand environmental changes over time. This research contributes valuable data on forest ecology, climate variability, and sustainable natural resource management. The field observations and collected samples will aid in reconstructing historical climate conditions and support ongoing environmental conservation efforts.
