The Holy Quran is the great book that Allah Almighty revealed for the guidance of His creation.
Just as every device comes with a manual to explain how to use it properly, in the same way, this book guides human beings about why they were sent into this world and how they should live their lives.
But sadly, we often read this book only as a ritual. We also teach it to our children, yet we forget to reflect on what message this book is actually trying to give us.
In today’s time, our connection with the Quran is becoming weaker.
Our relationship with the Quran is often limited to placing it on a high shelf in our homes, or holding it over the head of a sister or daughter at the time of marriage—even though there is no clear evidence of this practice in the Quran or Sunnah.
When we teach the Quran to our children, our goal is usually not for them to understand its message. Instead, we are in a hurry for the child to finish reading it within two or three weeks.
On the other hand, our attitude toward worldly education is completely different. We pay semester fees regularly, and no one dares to say to a school principal or teacher, “My child already knows English—just complete all four semesters in one year!”
But when it comes to Quranic education, we repeatedly taunt the Qari or teacher by saying, “It’s been a year and the child still hasn’t finished!”
Whereas a Qari or Quran teacher knows better how to take a child forward, what to teach at which stage, and how to correct and train them properly.
An ordinary person cannot truly understand how much time and effort it takes to learn the Quran with proper tajweed and understanding.
Even if a child already knows how to read the Quran, it still takes at least two years of consistent effort to become a proper Qari—and even then, practice continues for a lifetime.
Even a Hafiz-e-Quran, with years of experience, may make mistakes multiple times during Taraweeh in Ramadan.
This is a natural reality—human beings are bound to make mistakes.
But when our children are learning the Quran, we fail to keep these realities in mind.
We neither try to understand them nor reflect upon them. Instead, we take this learning process lightly and become impatient.
A teacher understands a child’s psychology and guides them on the path of knowledge accordingly.
Sometimes a child’s focus or mental capacity is not strong enough to immediately grasp this book, because every letter of the Quran carries spiritual power and unseen influence.
When, how, and to what extent this influence works—only an experienced teacher truly understands.
First of all, this book itself is extremely great, and then the teacher of this book holds a very high status as well.
But people today either do not recognize this status or deliberately ignore it.
Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said:
“Whoever teaches you even a single letter is your teacher.”
Yet in our time, the disrespect and humiliation faced by teachers is perhaps unmatched in any other era.
In the past, the name of a teacher alone was enough. Great saints and righteous people would travel hundreds of miles to learn from their teachers, endure every hardship, and carry deep respect and love for them in their hearts.
They also had complete trust in the person who entrusted them to that teacher.
Today, while gaining education has become easier, the respect and status of teachers has been crushed into the dust.
We want our children to learn everything, yet the insight, the spirit, and the essence that a teacher possesses—we respond to it with ingratitude and disrespect.
We often hear this verse about the Quran:
“And recite the Quran slowly and clearly.” (Surah Al-Muzzammil)
But we fail to understand its wisdom, because we believe only in rote learning—just so we can tell the world that our child has completed the Quran.
We compare our children with others who may have stronger memory or understanding, and we humiliate the teacher by saying, “Another child finished in this much time—why didn’t ours?”
We do not realize that the teacher knows better.
It is possible that the teacher is laying such a strong foundation for your child that, in time, they may surpass others—while the child you compared them with may fail later due to haste.
If you accept someone as a teacher, then trust them completely.
Not everyone can be a teacher—Allah grants this great position to only a chosen few.
And being a teacher of the Quran is an even higher honor.
The purpose of this entire message is simply to help us understand the status of a teacher.
If you reduce the respect of a teacher in front of your child, that child will respect neither the teacher nor you.
Because they will learn that a “teacher” is something that can be bought, changed, or discarded at will.
This matter requires deep thought and serious reflection.

قرآن کریم وہ عظیم کتاب ہے جو اللہ تعالیٰ نے اپنی مخلوق کی ہدایت کے لیے نازل فرمائی۔
جیسے ہر چیز کے ساتھ اس کے درست استعمال کے لیے ایک ہدایت نامہ (manual) ہوتا ہے، بالکل اسی طرح یہ کتاب انسان کو رہنمائی فراہم کرتی ہے کہ وہ دنیا میں کیوں بھیجا گیا ہے، اور اسے اپنی زندگی کیسے گزارنی چاہیے۔

مگر ہم اکثر اس کتاب کو صرف رسم کے طور پر پڑھتے ہیں۔ اپنے بچوں کو بھی پڑھاتے ہیں، لیکن اس دوران بھول جاتے ہیں کہ یہ کتاب ہمیں کیا پیغام دینا چاہتی ہے۔

آج کے دور میں ہمارا تعلق قرآن سے کمزور ہوتا جا رہا ہے۔
ہمارا قرآن سے رشتہ اکثر صرف اتنا رہ گیا ہے کہ ہم اسے گھر کے کسی اونچے مقام پر رکھ دیتے ہیں، یا شادی کے وقت بہن یا بیٹی کے سر پر اس کا سایہ کرتے ہیں — جب کہ اس رسم کا کوئی ثبوت نہ قرآن سے ملتا ہے نہ سنت سے۔

جب ہم قرآن بچوں کو سکھاتے ہیں، تو ہمارا مقصد یہ نہیں ہوتا کہ وہ اس کے پیغام کو سمجھیں، بلکہ ہم صرف اس بات کی جلدی میں ہوتے ہیں کہ بچہ دو تین ہفتوں میں اسے پڑھ لے۔
اس کے برعکس، دنیاوی تعلیم میں ہمارا رویہ بالکل مختلف ہوتا ہے۔ ہم ہر سیمیسٹر کی فیس ادا کرتے ہیں، اور وہاں کوئی یہ جرات نہیں کرتا کہ کسی ادارے کے پرنسپل یا استاد سے کہے: “ہمارے بچے کو تو انگریزی آتی ہے، چاروں سیمیسٹر ایک ہی سال میں مکمل کروا دیں!”

مگر جب بات قرآن کی تعلیم کی ہو، تو ہم قاری صاحب کو آئے دن طعنہ دیتے ہیں کہ “ایک سال ہو گیا بچہ ابھی تک مکمل نہیں کر سکا!”
حالانکہ قاری یا قرآن کا استاد بہتر جانتا ہے کہ ایک بچے کو کیسے آگے لے کر جانا ہے، کب کیا سکھانا ہے، اور کیسے اس کی اصلاح کرنی ہے۔

ایک عام انسان کو اس کا اندازہ نہیں ہوتا کہ قرآن کو تجوید کے ساتھ سیکھنے اور سمجھنے میں کتنا وقت لگتا ہے۔
ایک بچہ اگر قرآن پڑھنا جانتا بھی ہو، تو بھی اسے ایک مکمل قاری بننے کے لیے کم از کم دو سال کی محنت درکار ہوتی ہے، اور پھر بھی ساری زندگی اسے مشق جاری رکھنی پڑتی ہے۔

حتیٰ کہ ایک حافظِ قرآن، جو برسوں کا تجربہ رکھتا ہو، وہ بھی رمضان کی تراویح میں کئی مرتبہ غلطی کرتا ہے۔
یہ ایک فطری بات ہے — انسان سے غلطی ہو جاتی ہے۔

مگر جب ہمارے بچے قرآن سیکھ رہے ہوتے ہیں، تب ہماری توجہ ان حقائق پر نہیں ہوتی۔
ہم نہ تو ان چیزوں کو سمجھنے کی کوشش کرتے ہیں، نہ ہی ان پر غور کرتے ہیں۔
ہم انہیں بہت آسان سمجھ کر جلدبازی کا شکار ہو جاتے ہیں۔

ایک استاد بچے کی نفسیات کو سمجھ کر، اس کے مطابق اسے علم کے راستے پر چلاتا ہے۔
کبھی کبھی بچے کی توجہ یا ذہنی طاقت اتنی نہیں ہوتی کہ وہ اس کتاب کو فوری طور پر سمجھ سکے،
کیونکہ قرآن کے ہر حرف میں غیبی طاقت اور روحانی تاثیر موجود ہے۔
یہ کب، کیسے اور کتنا اثر کرتی ہے، یہ ایک ماہر استاد ہی جان سکتا ہے۔

سب سے پہلے تو یہ کتاب خود بے حد عظیم ہے، اور پھر اس کتاب کا استاد — اس کا مقام و مرتبہ بھی بہت بلند ہے۔
مگر آج کے دور کے لوگ یا تو اس مقام کو جانتے ہی نہیں، یا جان بوجھ کر نظر انداز کرتے ہیں۔

حضرت علی کرم اللہ وجہہ کا ارشاد ہے:
"جس نے تمہیں ایک حرف سکھایا، وہ بھی تمہارا استاد ہے۔"

مگر اس زمانے میں جس طرح اساتذہ کی بے ادبی اور توہین کی جاتی ہے، شاید ہی کسی اور دور میں ہوتی ہو۔
پرانے وقتوں میں ایک استاد کا نام ہی کافی ہوتا تھا —
بڑے بڑے اولیاء کرام اور کاملین سینکڑوں میل کا سفر طے کر کے ان اساتذہ سے سیکھنے آتے تھے،
ہر سختی برداشت کرتے، اور ان کے دلوں میں استاد کی قدر اور محبت ہوتی تھی۔
اور جو شخص ان کو ان استاد کے حوالے کرتا تھا، اس پر بھی ان کو مکمل بھروسہ ہوتا تھا۔

مگر آج، جہاں تعلیم حاصل کرنا آسان ہو گیا،
وہیں اساتذہ کے مقام و مرتبے کی قدر مٹی میں مل چکی ہے۔
ہم چاہتے ہیں کہ ہمارے بچے سب کچھ سیکھیں، مگر جو نکتہ، جو روح، جو خلاصہ ایک استاد جانتا ہے —
ہم اس کے ساتھ ناقدری اور بے توقیری کرتے ہیں۔

ہم اکثر قرآن کے متعلق یہ آیت سنتے ہیں:
"وَرَتِّلِ الْقُرْآنَ تَرْتِيلًا"
یعنی "قرآن کو ٹھہر ٹھہر کر، خوبصورتی سے پڑھو" (سورہ مزمل)
مگر ہم اس کی حکمت کو سمجھنے سے قاصر ہیں،
کیونکہ ہم صرف "رٹہ" لگانے کے قائل ہیں تاکہ دنیا کو بتا سکیں کہ ہمارے بچے نے قرآن ختم کر لیا ہے۔

ہم دوسرے بچوں سے موازنہ کرتے ہیں جن کی یادداشت یا فہم زیادہ ہوتی ہے،
اور اپنے بچے کے استاد کو ذلیل کرتے ہیں کہ "دوسرا بچہ تو اتنے عرصے میں مکمل کر لیتا ہے، ہمارا کیوں نہیں؟"

ہم نہیں جانتے کہ استاد بہتر جانتا ہے —
کیا معلوم وہ آپ کے بچے پر ایک ایسی بنیاد رکھ رہا ہو کہ وقت آنے پر وہ دوسروں سے بھی آگے نکل جائے،
اور جس بچے سے آپ نے موازنہ کیا تھا، وہ جلد بازی کی وجہ سے آگے چل کر ناکام ہو جائے۔

اگر آپ کسی کو استاد مان لیں تو اس پر مکمل اعتماد کریں،
کیونکہ استاد ہر کوئی نہیں ہوتا —
اللہ تعالیٰ کسی کسی کو اس عظیم منصب پر فائز کرتا ہے،
اور خاص طور پر قرآن جیسے عظیم کلام کا استاد ہونا تو اور بھی بلند مقام کی بات ہے۔

میرے اس پورے بیان کا مقصد یہی ہے کہ استاد کے مقام کو سمجھا جائے۔
اگر آپ اپنے بچے کے سامنے استاد کی عزت کم کریں گے، تو وہ بچہ نہ کسی استاد کو عزت دے گا، نہ آپ کو۔
کیونکہ وہ یہ سیکھ جائے گا کہ "استاد" ایک ایسی چیز ہے جسے جب چاہا خریدا، بدلا اور چھوڑا جا سکتا ہے۔

یہ معاملہ انتہائی غور و فکر کا تقاضا کرتا ہے۔
