SOCA congratulates Dr Abul Hassan on presenting his research paper, Digital Caregivers: AI as Companion for Elderly Parents in Pakistan, at ICAN 8 2026 – International Conference on Media for People and Planet, held on 16–17 April 2026 in collaboration with the International Association for Media and Communication Research. His participation reflects SOCA’s growing contribution to global academic discourse in AI, digital care, and media innovation.

SoCA congratulates Dr Ali Ab Ul Hassan, Assistant Professor at the School of Creative Arts, on being selected for the prestigious Al Jazeera Fellowship 2026, offered by the Al Jazeera Media Institute, Doha, Qatar. As part of this three-month international research program, Dr Hassan will conduct research on the ethical and professional acceptance of AI in Pakistan’s media industry. This achievement reflects SoCA’s growing recognition in global academic and media forums.

The School of Creative Arts at the University of Lahore organised a seminar on “The Role of Media in Motorway Road Safety”, chaired by Prof Dr Farasat Rasool and moderated by MPhil student Meherbano Naqvi. The event featured Ms Kiran Zaman from NHMP and SP Atif Shahzad, highlighting road safety, public awareness campaigns, and the media’s role in fostering responsible driving. An interactive Q&A session concluded the seminar, with shields and certificates presented to speakers and student organisers.

Students from the School of Creative Arts, The University of Lahore, explored the Buddhist reliefs of Taxila as part of their relief sculpture curriculum, gaining first-hand insight into Gandharan art, narrative composition, and ancient sculptural techniques through immersive, experiential learning.

Semester 7 BS Mass Media & Communication students hosted a media seminar on Media Credibility & Trust under the supervision of Assistant Professor Ahmed Sheikh, featuring Dr Aslam Dogar and Mr Hamad Aslam. The event was enriched by the presence of the Dean, Faculty of Arts & Architecture, Prof Dr Farasat Rasool, and was hosted by Ayyan Hameeda, with an engaging Q&A session led by the student organising team.

Assistant Professor Ahmad Sheikh and students of SoCA hosted a creative seminar on non-verbal artistic expression, featuring talks by Prof Dr Farasat Rasool, writer Ashgar Nadeem Syed, and artist Adnan Baig.
Presentations, visual displays, and student artworks highlighted the power of color, imagery, and storytelling beyond words.

BSMMC and BAFT students spent a day at Radio Pakistan and PTV, exploring studios, newsrooms and control rooms.
The trip was led by Ms Ambreen Salman and Prof Mohsin Raza Gillani, with support from Programme Manager Kareen Ahmad.
