About YAAP:
Young Archaeologists Association of Pakistan (YAAP) embraces a wide spectrum of antiquarian and art historical interests, with material and social living culture, strongly represented. Archaeology is defined very broadly: in addition to traditional archaeological excavation, it is taken to encompass the study of standing buildings and a wide range of furnishings and artefacts.
Mission:
1-YAAP promotes archaeological inquiry and public understanding of the material record of the human past and contemporary studies of social living culture to foster an appreciation of diverse cultures and our shared humanity.
2-YAAP supports young archaeologists, their research and its dissemination, and the ethical practice of archaeology.
3-YAAP raises awareness among people of all ages about the significance of archaeological discovery and advocates for the preservation of the Pakistan’s archaeological heritage.

Introducing the speaker of 1st YAAP Talk, Prof Dr. Mohammad Rafique Mughal.
Prof. Dr. Mohammad Rafique Mughal is a noted archaeologist from Pakistan known for unearthing the remains of the Islamic, Buddhist, and Proto-historic periods, in Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan of Pakistan. He was engaged in investigating ethnoarchaeological research in Chitral, northern Pakistan. He was responsible for the direction, technical support, and supervision for the restoration and conservation of more than thirty monuments and excavated remains of the Islamic, Buddhist and Proto-historic periods, in Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan of Pakistan.
In 1992, Dr. Muhammad Rafique Mughal received the National Award of Tamgha-i-Imtiaz, conferred by the President of Pakistan for making outstanding contributions to the archaeology and culture of Pakistan. He has served as Professor of Archaeology and Heritage Management Department of Archaeology, Boston University, USA and was has also served as the Director General of Archaeology & Museums, Government of Pakistan; and Archaeological Advisor to the Government of Bahrain.
