Educational Visit to K&N’s Chicken Processing Facility
Students of the Home Economics Department, LCWU visited K&N’s chicken processing facility on 16th November 2022. A total of 24 students (BS III Semester 7, Food & Nutrition) and four faculty members visited the plant, where the concerned professionals gave a detailed tour of various poultry processing sections. These sections included:
• Slaughtering Area
• Cleaning and raw meat packaging section
• Product Processing Section
• Storage section
• Quality Control Laboratory
In an overview, the visit was very informative and exciting for the students and provided them with an in-depth understanding of poultry processing.

Workshop and series of Pakistan Culinary League (PCL) 2022
Pakistan Culinary League (PCL) is the materialization of an idea that was conceived to engage the youth of Pakistan in different food-related competitions. The core purpose behind launching PCL is to engage maximum people out there and aware them on the importance of safe and healthy cooking in our lives.
Concept PCL is a first of its kind initiative in Pakistan that will be exercised in educational institutes in three phases. In PCL 2022, in the first phase, schools, colleges and universities will be engaged and intra-organization cooking competitions in different categories will be held among the students. In the second phase, inter-organization competitions in the already announced categories will be held. In the third phase of PCL, all the winning candidates will finally contest in Pakistan International Culinary Festival (PICF) to be held in the first week of December (tentatively). Winners of PCL will be announced and awarded in the finale of PICF.
Categories of competition
1- Pakistani Food Competition (any one item from the main course)
2- Fast Food Competition (any one item)
3- Beverage Competition (any one item)
4- Desserts Competition (any one item)
For the above said purpose COTHM organized intra-organization competition on 29th November, 2022. 25 students from Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) Home Economics Department registered and competed against different food categories and got selected for the 2nd phase inter-organizations competitions.

Students of BS Home Economics participated in a 2-Day workshop "Nutritional practices in clinical care" organized by the Nutrition and Health Promotion Dept., University of Home Economics, Lahore

Aafia Ahmad, a student of BS Home Economics, LCWU secured second position at the "Cut flower competition” held on March 16, 2022 at Jillani Park PHA, Lahore.
