The Chairman of the Board of Taleem Finance Company Ltd, Mr Amjad Arbab led an insightful discussion on Microfinance in rural and challenging markets, with Dr Sono Khangharani (CEO Thardeep Microfinance) and Mr Masood ul Mulk (CEO SRSP) at the AMC 9 in Karachi. Critical aspects of rural finance that have stayed unaddressed related to policy, staffing, product design and use of technology were highlighted by these industry experts. Mr Arbab also gave examples of the Afghanistan Microfinance sector and drew practical correlations for implementation by our practitioners.

The CEO of Taleem Finance Company Ltd, Mr Kamran Azim, presented thought provoking arguments in the opening grand debate related to the avoidance of mission drift in the sector. He presented a 4 Rs model which emphasised;
1. Refreshing the cause of each entity from top to base
2. Recognising the problems and addressing them.
3. Redoing what has worked rather then reinventing the wheel
4. Reaching out to each other for collaborations.
He also gave very apt references to the Holy Quran which also sheds divine light on how the only way to avoid loss or drift is to be a people who spread peace, do purposeful actions of service for each other, council each other on the truth and advise tolerance when faced with adversity.

A Fellow Chartered Accountant with more than 30 years of diverse experience, he has held leadership roles across consultancy, corporate finance, and microfinance. His tenure as COO of Kashf Foundation saw him manage over 300 branches and build one of Pakistan’s most impactful MFIs. Mr. Azim has also worked with KPMG, Total Parco, and Citicorp, and has represented Pakistan at global forums across the US, UK, Europe, and Africa. His governance and academic contributions, including leadership programs at Harvard, Wharton, and Oxford, further distinguish his career.

AMC9 is being organized by Pakistan Microfinance Network (PMN) in collaboration with UNIDO - United Nations Industrial Development Organization under PAIDAR - Poverty alleviation and inclusive development across rural Sindh, funded by the European Union. At AMC9, Mr. Azim will take the stage in the Grand Debate on microfinance's mission drift, emphasizing how the sector continues to create meaningful impact in education, livelihoods, and financial inclusion.

TFCL’s management firmly believes that in today’s challenging business environment the key to continuous success lies in the capacity building of our teams.
We recently conducted a training program on “Productivity Enhancement” of our School Development Executives in collaboration with Opportunity International (OI) EduFinance.
It was attended by TFCL’s branch leaders and supervisory role holders in both HO and field.
The program was specifically designed to equip these talented resources on mentoring / coaching their sales field force by focusing on effective communication with clients, soft skills improvement, TAT, overdue management and risk assessment. Update on the procedural interventions were also highlighted that aim to help the sales field force work at a faster pace with increased enthusiasm and credibility.
TFCL recognizes its staff as the true assets and is committed to investing in their growth and development initiatives.
