📢 Board of Studies Meeting | A New AI Course Introduced

The Department of Computer Science, UET Lahore, proudly conducted its Board of Studies (BoS) Meeting, where a new Artificial Intelligence (AI) course was officially introduced for 3rd-year BS Computer Science students.

The course covers the fundamentals of AI, intelligent agents, search algorithms, game playing, constraint satisfaction, machine learning, neural networks, and Natural Language Processing (NLP), combining strong theoretical concepts with practical learning activities.

NESTBOARD – An IoT-Based Smart Automation System

Proud to share NESTBOARD, an IoT-based smart automation system developed by our BS Computer Science (4th Semester, Session 2024–2028) students as their semester project for the Computer Organization & Assembly Language ( COAL ) course.

The project addresses a real problem in our department: six faculty cabins have their lights and fans controlled from a single switchboard located inside one cabin. When that cabin is locked or its occupant is absent, the switches become inaccessible, leading to unnecessary energy wastage and inconvenience.

To solve this, the students designed a complete IoT solution featuring ESP32-based hardware, MQTT communication, a FastAPI + PostgreSQL backend, and a React Native (Expo) mobile application with scheduling, user management, analytics, activity logs, and remote control capabilities.

UET Lahore Establishes Faculty of Computing

The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore has formally established a new Faculty of Computing following approval by the University's Senate in its 41st meeting. The decision was made on the recommendations of the Academic Council and endorsed by the Syndicate.

The newly established faculty will comprise the Department of Computer Science, Institute of Data Sciences, and the Institute of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Cyber Security. The Faculty of Computing will strengthen teaching, research, and innovation in emerging technologies while addressing the growing demand for skilled professionals in computing and artificial intelligence. The Department of Computer Science will operate across the Main Campus, New Campus, Faisalabad Campus, Narowal Campus, and RCET Gujranwala, while the two institutes will be based at the Main Campus.
