قَالَ رَبِّ اَنّٰی یَكُوْنُ لِیْ غُلٰمٌ وَّ قَدْ بَلَغَنِیَ الْكِبَرُ وَ امْرَاَتِیْ عَاقِرٌ ؕ قَالَ كَذٰلِكَ اللّٰهُ یَفْعَلُ مَا یَشَآءُ .

(Āl-i-‘Imrān , 3 : 40)

(Zakariyya [Zacharias]) submitted: ‘O my Lord, how shall I have a son when old age has already overtaken me, and my wife is (also) barren?’ He said: ‘The same way as Allah does whatever He wills.’ .

بَلٰى قٰدِرِیْنَ عَلٰۤی اَنْ نُّسَوِّیَ بَنَانَهٗ .

(al-Qiyāmah , 75 : 4)

Yes, of course! We have also the power to restore and set right even his finger joints and finger tips.

The creation of man is not greater than the creation of the heavens and earth

لَخَلْقُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَ الْاَرْضِ اَكْبَرُ مِنْ خَلْقِ النَّاسِ وَ لٰكِنَّ اَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا یَعْلَمُوْنَ .

(Ghāfir , 40 : 57)

Surely, the creation of the heavens and the earth is far greater than the creation of mankind but most people do not know.

هُوَ الَّذِیْ یُصَوِّرُكُمْ فِی الْاَرْحَامِ كَیْفَ یَشَآءُ ؕ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا هُوَ الْعَزِیْزُ الْحَكِیْمُ .

(Āl-i-‘Imrān , 3 : 6)

He is the One Who shapes your forms the way He wills in the wombs (of mothers). None is worthy of worship but He. He is Almighty, All-Wise. .

خَلَقَكُمْ مِّنْ نَّفْسٍ وَّاحِدَةٍ ثُمَّ جَعَلَ مِنْهَا زَوْجَهَا وَ اَنْزَلَ لَكُمْ مِّنَ الْاَنْعَامِ ثَمٰنِیَةَ اَزْوَاجٍ ؕ یَخْلُقُكُمْ فِیْ بُطُوْنِ اُمَّهٰتِكُمْ خَلْقًا مِّنْۢ بَعْدِ خَلْقٍ فِیْ ظُلُمٰتٍ ثَلٰثٍ ؕ ذٰلِكُمُ اللّٰهُ رَبُّكُمْ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ ؕ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا هُوَ ۚ فَاَنّٰی تُصْرَفُوْنَ .

(az-Zumar , 39 : 6)

He has created all of you from a single life cell, and then made from it a similar pair. And then He brought about for you eight living animals in pairs. He shapes you in the wombs of your mothers from one creative phase into the next in sequence and (completes this process) in three (germinal) layers. This is Allah, your Lord, to Whom belongs all Power and Authority. There is no God except He. Where then are you deviated (and disoriented after knowing these concealed realities of creation)? .

Prenatal development: the development of the fetus in the mother’s womb

ثُمَّ جَعَلْنٰهُ نُطْفَةً فِیْ قَرَارٍ مَّكِیْنٍ۪ .

(al-Mu’minūn , 23 : 13)

Then We placed him as a s***m drop (zygote) in a secure place (the mother’s womb). .

Dry mud sounding like earthenware

خَلَقَ الْاِنْسَانَ مِنْ صَلْصَالٍ كَالْفَخَّارِۙ .

(ar-Rahmān , 55 : 14)

He is the One Who created man from a dry mud sounding like earthenware, .

وَ لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْاِنْسَانَ مِنْ سُلٰلَةٍ مِّنْ طِیْنٍۚ .

(al-Mu’minūn , 23 : 12)

And indeed, We originated (the genesis of) man from the extract of (chemical ingredients of) clay.* .

Reproduction and procreation

وَ اَنَّهٗ خَلَقَ الزَّوْجَیْنِ الذَّكَرَ وَ الْاُنْثٰیۙ .

(an-Najm , 53 : 45)

And that He is the One Who has created the two genders, male and female, .

Old (and) black stinking, resounding mud

وَ لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْاِنْسَانَ مِنْ صَلْصَالٍ مِّنْ حَمَاٍ مَّسْنُوْنٍۚ .

(al-Hijr , 15 : 26)

And indeed, We originated man’s (chemical) genesis from that dry sounding clay which, (first) having grown old (and under the heat of the sun and other chemical and biological effects), had turned into black stinking mud. .
