How Machine Learning started?

A brief timeline of machine learning reveals many hidden efforts of great scientists and mathematicians.

The evolution era of Machine learning starting from 1800s was the building point when Pierre-Simon Laplace defines Bayes' Theorem which describes the probability of an event, based on prior knowledge of conditions that might be related to the event.

This discovery rationalized the importance of computers as machines that can "store data".

Later in 1950s, the foundation of machine learning was formed when "Alan Turing" proposes a 'learning machine' that could learn and become artificially intelligent. And this gave birth to the first "Neural Network Machine" in 1951.

the era starting from 1952 to 1974, many researchers and mathematicians achieved and discovered new innovations in ML.
It was in 1974, that the term machine leaning was first used by the researchers followed by Artificial Intelligence, informatics and computational intelligence were also proposed the same year.

With the advancement in Machine learning, game development industry was also flourishing.
The first game played by machine was "Tic-Tac-Toe" developed in 1963 using ML.
The second game played by machine was "Backgammon" in 1992 and in 1996, first "Human" was defeated by a "Machine" in the game of chess. The world famous champion in chess, "Garry Kasparov".

It was then proved to the world that machines can really think like humans.

All these events gave birth to new fields in Machine Learning.
In the years from 2006 to 2017, many major techniques were developed that shaped AI to what it is today and will be in future.

Learning from the past and changing the future is what is needed in this era. Industry is revolutionizing and upgrading our lifestyle every day. Advancing from "Industry4.0" to "Industry5.0".
