Before taking a meal, wash your hands properly and rinse the mouth. It is also called the “Wudu for taking a meal.”

Take off your shoes and then sit at the dining-mat.

Before eating meal, first recite: ‘بِسْمِ اللّٰہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ’ and then recite this Du’a: بِسْمِ اللّٰہِ وَ عَلٰی بَرَ کَۃِ اللّٰہِ

If you forget to recite بِسۡـمِ اللّٰه at the beginning of the meal, then say: بِسۡـمِ اللّٰهِ اَوَّلَهٗ وَاٰخِرَهٗ when you remember during eating.

Eat small morsels from your side [in a plate] with the right hand.

Pick up and eat the morsels or rice grains dropped on the dining-mat.

Lick your fingers clean having wiped the utensils properly.

Recite this Du’a after eating meal:

اَ لْحَمْدُ لِلّٰہِ الَّذِیْ اَطْعَمَنَاوَسَقَانَا وَجَعَلَنَا مُسْلِمِیْنَ

In the end, wash your hands and rinse the mouth properly.

At the time of meeting a Muslim, it is Sunnah of the Beloved Rasool صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم to say Salam to him.

The best words for saying Salam are:

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْکُمْ وَ رَحْمَۃُ اللّٰہِ وَبَرَکَا تُہٗ ط

The person in return should reply in these words:

وَعَلَیْکُمُ السَّلَامُ وَ رَحْمَۃُ اللّٰہِ وَبَرَکَا تُہٗ ط
