Why Do We Only Read the Qur'an After Someone Dies?

In today’s time, a painful reality is that many of us only open the Qur'an when someone passes away. But the Holy Qur'an was revealed as a guide for the living, not a ritual for the dead!

Allah SWT says in the Qur'an:
"This is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those conscious of Allah."
(Surah Al-Baqarah 2:2)

The Qur'an is a manual for life, meant to be read, understood, and lived by every day.
Yet, sadly, many treat it as a mere part of funeral rites. Is this why Allah sent down His final revelation?

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:
"The best among you are those who learn the Qur'an and teach it."
(Sahih al-Bukhari 5027)

He (PBUH) emphasized reading, reflecting, and implementing the Qur'an in daily life — not limiting it to ceremonies of death.

Ask yourself:

Do I open the Qur'an daily for guidance or only during a funeral?

Am I living according to the words of Allah or just reciting them without understanding?

Let’s reconnect with the Qur'an now!
Let’s read, ponder, act upon its teachings, and teach others while we are still alive.
The Qur'an is for the living hearts, not for lifeless rituals.

Remember:
"And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?"

Never Lose Hope — A Message of Light from the Quran and Sunnah

In Islam, hopelessness is not just discouraged — it is forbidden. Allah (SWT) reminds us that His mercy is vast and ever-reaching, and no matter how dark the circumstances may seem, a believer must always cling to hope.

Allah says in the Holy Quran:

> "Say, 'O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.'"
(Surah Az-Zumar 39:53)

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) also said:

> "If a believer knew the extent of Allah’s mercy, he would never despair of Paradise. And if a disbeliever knew the extent of Allah’s punishment, he would never feel safe from the Hellfire."
(Sahih Muslim)

In moments of despair, remember:

Turn to Allah in sincere repentance.

Seek forgiveness and trust in His plan.

Recite Quran and internalize its comforting promises.

Believe in Du'a — the weapon of the believer.

Islam teaches us that hope is an act of faith.
Even if life seems full of challenges, remember: with every hardship comes ease (Quran 94:6).
