Orientation Session for the 16 days teachers training program to be held in Beijing, China

Islamabad Thursday July 30, 2015: Her Excellency Mr. Madam Bao Ji Qing (Wife of Ambassador of China to Pakistan) arranged an orientation session for a 16 days ‘Training Programs for Teachers from overseas’ in Beijing. The session aimed at briefing the teachers about China and its culture. 17 RIS teachers are going on the training to China.
Roots International Schools is proudly serving in private sector as a pioneer institute initiating ‘beyond the classroom learning’ techniques. Keeping in mind the requirements of today’s global accelerating trends and required competency, our academic curriculum has been specially designed by a set of highly qualified educationists. In pursuit to keep pace with the international standards of education, CEO RIS Walid Mushtaq has incorporated nation’s best academicians as the language instructors in its nationwide campuses, who are appointed after effective evaluation process and scrutinized screening, based on standard filter processes and merits.
It is 21st century’s requirement to gain knowledge of different languages and cultures. The Department of Foreign Languages of Roots International Schools is offering Chinese Language to RIS students and working to incorporate more languages under the umbrella of RFLD to expand the cultural horizons. With this vision the CEO RIS Walid Mushtaq has initiated Roots Chinese Language Department (RCLD). RCLD aims to promote one of the world's oldest cultures; The Chinese culture. Mandarin Chinese perceived as a language of commerce and business, or "The language of the future." The investment in learning how to read and write Chinese characters can clearly pay dividends - not just for one's bank account, but also for one's brain. RCLD is headed by CEO Walid Mushtaq and Kulsoom Tanvir and it consists of fifteen well qualified faculty members. Some of them are associated with China in their own fields of professional experience. This will help the faculty members not only to teach students the Mandarin, but also to expose them to the Chinese culture. In an increasingly connected world, foreign language proficiency is more important than ever. Learning another language has many cognitive, academic, and social benefits.
Recently Chinese Embassy in collaboration with Beijing Municipal Education Commission and Beijing International Education Exchange arranged an orientation session for a 16 days ‘Training Programs for Teachers from overseas’. The training aims at improving the teaching level of the overseas teachers of Chinese language, deepening their understanding of Chinese culture and Beijing, building good educational communication and cooperation relationships as well as communication channels, promoting the overseas Chinese language teaching and attracting more international students to study in Beijing. Training will be held in Capital Normal University, Beijing, China. RIS is highly thankful to Her Excellency Mr. Madam Bao Ji Qing (Wife of Ambassador of China to Pakistan) for providing the RIS teachers with such a huge learning platform. A total of 30 teachers are attending the training session among them 17 are RIS teachers. It is a proud moment for the RIS that Madam Bao has given preference to maximum RIS teachers to gain exposure of Chinese language and culture. The training will be of great use as teachers will be able to demonstrate the firsthand knowledge and cultural experience to the students afterwards.

Dear Parents & Students,
Roots International School would like to inform you that RIS have introduced a new futuristic uniform. This uniform will give our students a new identity, with high quality fabric and an innovative elegant design. Uniforms show that you are part of an organization. Uniforms give students a sense of belonging to a particular school and create an identity for the school in the community.
Wearing Uniform instils a sense of personal pride in the student body and represents uniformity and unity within the School family. School uniforms have not just education but also social purpose.
The new RIS-School uniform will promote school safety, improve discipline, and enhance the learning environment. In addition, a school uniform is also useful in:
(1) Assisting school officials in the early recognition of persons not
authorized to enter a school.
(2) Helping parents and learners resist peer pressure that leads children to make unnecessary demands for particular and often expensive clothing.
(3) Instilling discipline in learners
(4) Helping learners concentrate on their school-work.
(5) The uniform must allow learners to participate in school activities with comfort, safety and decorum.
Specifics of Girls, Boys, Sports & Taekwondo uniform for Summers, for the session 2015 – 2016 are in the Album.

Islamabad- Roots International Schools’ delegation had an enlightening session with German Ambassador Dr. Cyrill Nunn at his office to appreciate the achievements of RIS Student, Zainab Abbas who has been selected as a reporter for the regional PASCH online newspaper of South Asia.
The delegation included CEO RIS, Mr. Walid Mushtaq; Foreign Language Coordinator Humaira Shaheen; Media & PR Manager Sundas Zahra and the RIS student and PASCH newspapers’ Reporter Zainab Abbas. The conference was held at the Ambassadors office with His Excellency himself and Dr. Dan Tidten, the first secretary & Head of Press and Cultural Section who was very cordial as he received the delegation from RIS.
The session was delightful as the delegation engaged in lively conversation with the ambassador about German scholarships, employment opportunities, Vocational Training Programs and various other German initiatives. The discussion was basically centered on German initiatives of reaching out to Pakistan. It was indeed an enriching, informative and interesting session.
Dr. Cyrill Nunn said that education opens door for all sorts of opportunities and carves the path for the youth aspirations. He mentioned how around 80% of population in German is not of German origin but from other places like Turkey, Africa, Syria and Palestine etc. and the reason is the German economy, more job opportunities, wealthy state, good housing and sanitation, basic rights, free health care and education. For pursuit of a better lifestyle, Germany is chosen by many for a better future. He also mentioned the technical and vocational education initiatives for thousands of people and 600 + scholarships for Pakistan by German government.
Ms. Abbas said, “The incredible opportunity to get appreciated by the Ambassador himself, PASCH, German Language, my trainings at India and Germany wouldn’t have been possible without Roots International Schools. RIS works really hard to help its students achieve what they dream.” She recently visited India for PASCH’s workshop where she learnt not only about newspaper compilation but also team work, friendships beyond borders and racial and cultural barriers. German language, PASCH and institutes like RIS make it possible to cross the cultural barriers. She said, “A diverse group of people from entirely different cultures speaking different languages united by the love of German language.”
She will be departing for Germany in August for her trainings. This exciting project should be "adopted" by all of PASCH schools, and Zainab will get a lot of contributions from all German language students for the newspaper. This will be a matter of pride for RIS and Pakistan as her articles will be read by students from all over the world.
RIS’s CEO Mr. Walid Mushtaq has always encouraged and appreciate his students’ achievement. He said that Goethe PACH Schools should be established in Pakistan as well. This session shall augment and foster German-Pakistan relationship and open doors for new initiatives in educations sector and corridors of possibilities for Vocational Training programs, German Higher Education Scholarship. Ms. Zainab presented a memento and an art album of German Language Club of RIS to His Excellency Dr. Cyrill Nunn on behalf of Roots International Schools at the end.
