CONCLUSION CEREMONY MARKS THE END OF STUDENTS’ WEEK 2026 AT SALU’S DEPARTMENT OF SPECIAL EDUCATION
The Department of Special Education, Faculty of Education at Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur, brought the curtain down on its participation in the university-wide Students’ Week 2026 with a grand concluding ceremony held today. The five-day event, which ran from February 9 to 13, was a resounding success, highlighting creativity, innovation, and a steadfast commitment to inclusive education through a series of practical sessions, awareness programs, and student-led initiatives focused on learning aids, community-based rehabilitation, and inclusive classrooms.
The ceremony was graced by Prof. Dr. Liaquat Hussain Chandio, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, who attended as the chief guest. He was joined on the occasion by Dr. Zahid Hussain Sahito, Chairman of the Department of Special Education. The event also saw the participation of esteemed faculty members, including Dr. Farzana, Miss Sanam Lund, Miss Bakhtawar Larik, Miss Naheed Hisam, and Miss Hira Ghanbhir, who came together to celebrate the students’ achievements.
A key highlight of the concluding ceremony was the distribution of prizes to outstanding student participants in recognition of their exceptional contributions, creativity, and active engagement throughout the week. The awards acknowledged the students' dedication to promoting inclusive practices and innovative approaches within the field of special education. The results were as follows:
· First Position: BS Part-III Special Education
· Second Position: BS Part-I Special Education
· Third Position: BS Part-II and BS Part-IV Special Education (jointly recognized for their collaborative efforts)
The event underscored the department’s ongoing mission to foster talent, raise awareness about disability rights, and build an inclusive academic environment at SALU.

🌟 Students’ Week 2026 – Day 3 | A Celebration of Inclusion & Ability 🌟
The Department of Special Education, Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur, proudly organized a dignified and emotionally inspiring ceremony on the third day of Students’ Week 2026. Students and officials from the Government Special Education & Rehabilitation Center for Hearing Impaired Children (HIC), Sukkur, along with a delegation from the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPD), Sindh, visited the university to promote awareness and inclusion.
The most heart-touching moment was when the students of HIC Sukkur presented the National Anthem in Sign Language 🇵🇰✨ Their confident and powerful performance left the audience deeply moved and delivered a strong message: Ability is the true identity — not disability.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Yousuf Khushk, as Chief Guest, appreciated the talent and patriotic spirit of the special students and emphasized that a progressive society ensures equal respect and opportunities for all. Chairman Dr. Zahid Hussain Sahito highlighted that Special Education is not only about teaching, but about promoting acceptance, respect, and equality.
The event was honored by distinguished guests, faculty members, DEPD officials, and students. A detailed briefing on DEPD’s educational and rehabilitation services further strengthened awareness about inclusive education.
The ceremony concluded with shields of appreciation presented to DEPD officers, marking this visit as a successful step toward cooperation, understanding, and equality.
