GYM Club Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur organized Kitchen Gardening activity at SALU Khairpur
A successful kitchen gardening event was organized by the Green Youth Moment Club (GYM Club) Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur. The program, held on 4 March 2025, aimed to promote sustainable gardening practices and environmental awareness among students.
The event was graced by Prof. Dr. Wahid Bux Jatoi, Pro Vice Chancellor, Main Campus, as the chief guest.
The guest speaker was Mr. Rashid Hussain Amur (Senior Plantation Officer) SALU Khairpur who briefed the students about the importance of kitchen gardening and their operations. His insightful presentation educated the students on the benefits of sustainable gardening practices. The members of GYM Club prepared soil and planted different varieties of summer vegetables in the field. Students learned about the importance of regular watering, weeding, and pruning to ensure the garden's growth and health.
The event highlighted the importance of sustainability, healthy eating, and awareness about the importance of kitchen gardening. Students gained a better understanding of the importance of sustainable living and the role of kitchen gardening in reducing carbon footprint. Students learned hands-on experience in gardening, soil preparation, and plant care, and the activity fostered a sense of community and teamwork among students/GYM Club members.

Report on the Distribution of Prime Minister's Appreciation Certificates to GYM Club Members, SALU, Khairpur

The Green Youth Movement (GYM) Club of Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur, organized a prestigious ceremony to distribute Prime Minister's Appreciation Certificates to its team members and contributors. The event took place in the Meeting Hall of the Administration Block, attended by faculty, students, and other dignitaries.
The Vice Chancellor of SALU, Dr. Yousaf Khushk, graced the occasion as the chief guest and personally handed over the certificates to the GYM Club members in recognition of their outstanding contributions towards environmental awareness and sustainable development initiatives.
As a gesture of gratitude, the GYM Club presented a commemorative shield to the Vice Chancellor for his unwavering support and encouragement of the club’s activities. Additionally, shields were awarded to the Focal Persons of the GYM Club, Dr. Shaista Khan Pathan and Dr. Ameer Ahmed Mallah, acknowledging their pivotal roles in guiding the team towards achieving its objectives.

Report on Awareness Sessions on "Water Conservation"

Participants: 30 students of 8th & 9th grade in the school library hall.
Introduction
The Green Youth Movement (GYM) Club, SALU Khairpur, conducted a series of awareness sessions on the topic of "Water Conservation" at the SOS Children’s Village in Khairpur Mir’s. The sessions aimed to educate the children about the importance of conserving water and adopting sustainable practices to address water scarcity.
Objectives:
1. To raise awareness about the global water crisis.
2. To educate children about practical ways to conserve water in their daily lives.
3. To foster a sense of responsibility towards the environment.
Session Highlights:
Interactive Presentations: The thematic lead delivered a detailed presentation, highlighting facts about water scarcity and its global and local impact.
Practical Demonstrations: The team demonstrated simple water-saving techniques, such as fixing leaks, turning off taps while brushing, and reusing water for gardening.
Storytelling and Activities: The Vice Captain engaged children with a story about the journey of a water droplet, followed by a drawing activity where participants illustrated how they conserve water at home.
Q&A Session: Children actively participated in a question-and-answer session, showcasing their eagerness to learn and contribute to water conservation efforts.

In a concerted effort to address one of the most pressing issues of our time, the Department of Biochemistry at Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur Mir's, hosted a transformative event – the Project Exhibition on Innovative Climate Change Solutions on Monday, 13th May 2024. Under the esteemed patronage of Prof. Dr. Abdul Hussain Shar, the Dean of the Faculty of Natural Science, the event saw a convergence of academic brilliance and environmental stewardship.
The exhibition, organized jointly by the Green Youth Movement (GYM) Club and the Faculty of Biochemistry, showcased a myriad of projects and models ingeniously crafted by students of the Biochemistry department.
