Lahore Chapter Rocks - More than 450 alumni of a variety of U.S. Government-sponsored exchange programs participated in the Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network’s (PUAN) annual Punjab Alumni Reunion. Theme of the year’s reunion was “Sangat” which means “Companionship”. Alumni across Punjab participated in the breakout sessions, dialogues, networking activities and fun games. Public Affairs Officer Rachael Chen gave the opening remarks and presented awards to the active alumni of previous years e.g. election committee members, activity leaders, executive committee members, leaderships across Punjab and the list goes on. Alumni performing activities without funds were also acknowledged.
During breakout sessions, senior alumni enlightened junior alumni about their journey with PUAN and encouraged them to be more active. Speakers of the sessions were those who dealt with teething problems of PUAN and started this great network. Consulate’s Interactive Resource Centre setup booth and distributed it’s publications to alumni. Alumni were informed about Alumni Small Grants and were guided about the ways they can promote their work with PUAN. On the second day, more than 60 alumni toured walled city of Lahore including Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation site (Alamgiri Gate), Badshahi Mosque, Lahore Fort and a Sikh Gurdwara. The purpose was to promote interfaith harmony via heritage, culture and tourism. This event honored more than 19 thousand Pakistani alumni who have attended US Government programs.
