MAGIC BOARD #34

We will talk about the types of headaches and a simple and effective home remedy for each.

1)On the front of head

-Lower your strees. As, when you’re stressed your body releases cortisol and adrenaline which leads to muscle tightness in the forehead. There is a pulling effect on the connective tissues over the skull which irritates the trigeminal nerve. Moreover, the serotonin levels drop, as well as the blood circulation.

2)On the top of head

-Drink water with salt, as your body is screaming for electrolytes and hydration. When you’re dehydrated, the brain loses water and shrinks, pulling on the brain covering. There’s also a reduced blood flow to the brain for which the brain compensates by narrowing blood vessels, leading to tightness and pain at the top of the head. Moreover, electrolytes help transmit nerve signals properly, and a lack of them makes the nerves more sensitive to pain.

3)Behind the head

-Massage your neck. The muscles in the neck become stiff due to poor posture over time, these tight muscles pull on the base of the skull which creates a pressure on the back of the head. The occipetal nerves get compressed passing through the stiff muscles, signalling pain. Moreover, this stiffness can restrict the blood circulation to the back of the head.

4)One one side of head

-Soak feet in warm water mixed with salt. Migraines involve expanded blood vessels in the head, and soaking feet in warm salt water draws the blood downward towards them. Moreover, warm salt water activates the parasympathetic nerves and reduces cortisol. The feet also contain pressure points linked to the brain and soaking them relaxes nerve pathways.
