University of Karachi Students Visits Marjan Feeds.

The students from the BS Poultry Science program at the University of Karachi recently visited the Marjan Feed mill as part of their academic program. The visit was under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Taseer Ahmed Khan, coordinator BS Poultry Science program, University of Karachi and Dr. Musarrat Ali Khan who is a former production manager at qaswa and Marjan feed and former research officer at poultry research institute. The visit aimed to provide students with firsthand experience of poultry feed production processes and the importance of poultry feed in the poultry industry.

The visit was facilitated by Dr. Usman Faraz Production Manager and Nutritionist Marjan Feeds. During the visit, students were given a tour of the mill facilities, where they observed the various stages of feed production, from ingredient receiving and storage to mixing, pelleting, packaging with additional visit of quality control labs and RND (research and development) sector. They also had the opportunity to interact with mill personnel and learn about the different types of poultry feed produced by Marjan and their role in poultry nutrition.

The Department, Faculty, and students are highly thankful to the management of Marjan Feeds Mill, especially Mr. Zafar Siddiqui, the owner, for facilitating this academic visit and for his valuable interaction with the students. His insightful discussion, guidance, and encouragement greatly enhanced the learning experience and provided a deeper understanding of the feed industry.

A formal Handing Over and Taking Over ceremony for the Directorship of the Institute of Clinical Psychology, University of Karachi, was held on September 11, 2025. The event marked the conclusion of Prof. Dr. Uzma Ali’s dedicated tenure as Director, which spanned from June 23, 2017, to September 11, 2025.

Prof. Dr. Sobia Aftab officially assumed the role of Director from the same date, bringing with her a vision to continue advancing the institute’s legacy of academic and clinical excellence.

The ceremony was graced by the esteemed presence of Prof. Dr. Farrukh Zahur Ahmad, the Founder Director of the Institute of Clinical Psychology, who attended as Chief Guest and extended his congratulations and best wishes to both the outgoing and incoming directors.

The first-year students of the Department of Mass Communication, University of Karachi, organized a special guest lecture on the topic “Khilafat Movement and Its Impact on the Muslims of the Subcontinent.” The guest of honor for the session was Professor Dr. Samer Sultana, former Chairperson of the Department of Political Science, University of Karachi, who continues to serve the academic and intellectual community with her valuable contributions.

The event commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by a Naat in praise of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). The host warmly welcomed the guest and formally opened the session.

Prof. Dr. Samer Sultana delivered a thought-provoking talk highlighting the political, social, and intellectual effects of the Khilafat Movement. She emphasized how the movement instilled a new spirit among the Muslims and became a symbol of unity and collective confidence for the Muslim nation.

Later, the Head of the Department, Dr. Asmat Ara , expressed her views, stating that such topics help the youth connect with Pakistan’s history and encourage them to contribute to its future. She stressed the need for more frequent guest lectures of this kind.

Ms. Afshah Hakim, Course In-Charge, extended heartfelt thanks to both distinguished guests. A special shield was presented to the guest of honor on behalf of the department. The students respectfully and warmly bid farewell to the guest at the end of the event.

The event was successfully organized under the supervision of Ms. Afshah Hakim by the first year students of Mass Communication, with full dedication and teamwork.

Under the direction of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalid Mahmood Iraqi, Team Vertex HSE Pvt. Ltd. has initiated the Transport Safety Assessment, Compliance, and Risk Mitigation Measures Project to enhance the university’s transport system.

During the assessment visit, Lead Consultant Syed Hassaan Habib along with Tahir Shaikh (Federal Civil Defense, Ministry of Interior, Government of Pakistan) visited the Transport Department and held a detailed meeting with Mr. Dildar SB (Incharge Transport, University of Karachi) and Dr. Waqar Ahmed (Focal Person for the Project).

The visit focused on evaluating transport operations, vehicle conditions, driver safety practices, and emergency preparedness to ensure a safer and more reliable commuting experience for students and staff.

This initiative marks a significant step toward creating a safe, efficient, and sustainable transport system at the University of Karachi. 🌿🚦
