Appointment
He belongs to sindh to replacing ZAB, a sindhi from a new PM from sindh gives a positive msg to people of Pakistan and particular to sindh province, this reduce resistance against Zia over the ex*****on of ZAB. Junejo was the president of Muslim League, opponent to PPP. Junejo has been a member of Ayub govt (Hold different ministries) having experienceof running a govt and more over worked with military govt of Ayub so better understanding was expected from him.
Dismissal
Junejo tried to take a course independent of Zia. He annoyed military generals by withdrawing big staff cars from them and replacing them with small cars. He tried to conduct an independent foreign policy, particularly on Afghanistan, by taking into confidence and consulting leaders of political parties, including Benazir Bhutto, the leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party. His government even tried to probe into the military fiasco at the Ojheri Camp near Islamabad on April 10, 1988, which resulted in the death and serious injuries to a large number of civilians.
Dismissal was important because it was a matter for prestige of Army.
