Dr. Waqar Ahmed, Secretary Landscaping & Gardening Council and Assistant Professor at the Institute of Environmental Studies, University of Karachi, actively led fire-fighting efforts after a fire incident was reported near the university premises. Emergency response teams promptly reached the site and worked efficiently to bring the situation under control, ensuring safety and minimizing risk.
Appreciation to Rescue 1122, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, and Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town for their swift activation and coordinated response in extinguishing the fire. Their rapid mobilization, professionalism, and commitment to public safety reflect true institutional responsibility and operational excellence.

Advancing Industrial Intelligence at the University of Karachi
The University of Karachi continues to champion innovation and interdisciplinary excellence. Under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Shagufta, Chairperson of the Department of Chemical Engineering, a high-impact seminar on โApplication of AI in Chemical Process Industriesโ was successfully organized, bringing together academia, researchers, and industry professionals to explore the evolving role of Artificial Intelligence in modern industrial systems.

The Institute of Environmental Studies (IES), University of Karachi, successfully organized a One-Day Agrofood Peace Conference at the KU Chinese Teachers Memorial Auditorium. The conference was held in collaboration with the Sindh Abadgar Forum (SAF), the Department of Agriculture & Agribusiness Management, the Department of Botany, the Department of Food Science & Technology, and the Dr. A.Q. Khan Institute of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering.
This impactful gathering brought together academia, industry experts, policymakers, and key agricultural stakeholders to promote sustainable agrofood systems, strengthen research collaboration, and advance peace-driven development through food security and environmental stewardship. ๐ฑ๐ The initiative reflects the University of Karachiโs commitment to building resilient food systems and fostering strategic partnerships for a sustainable and prosperous future.
The conference was graced by the presence of Chief Guest Mr. Ismail Raho, Minister for Universities & Boards, Government of Sindh, along with Mr. Nasir Hussain Shah, Senior Minister, Government of Sindh. Vice Chancellor University of Karachi, Prof. Dr. Khalid Mahmood Iraqi, and Mr. Fazal Asad, Chairman Sindh Abadgar Forum, also addressed the participants, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between academia and the agriculture sector for food security and economic growth.
Dr. Muhammad Farrakh Nawaz, Director Institute of Environmental Studies, University of Karachi, served as the backbone and Focal Person of the conference, playing a key role in organizing and leading this important initiative.
