Most August SAT students will waste the next 14 days. Not because they’re lazy. Because they’re spending their time on the wrong things.

The students who improve the most before test day rarely study the most. They make fewer avoidable mistakes. They stop chasing new strategies. They stop solving questions just for the sake of solving more. They stop confusing being busy with making progress.

Those final two weeks should be about one thing: Eliminating the mistakes that are already costing you points.

That’s where the biggest score improvements usually come from.

The students who walk into the Digital SAT feeling confident aren’t the ones who covered every topic. They’re the ones who knew exactly what to ignore, what to fix, and what to repeat.

Save this post. Read it again before every study session until your August SAT. Future you will thank you.

Be honest: Which habit is costing you the most points right now?

Comment the number only. We’ll reply with one practical tip for that specific habit.

Taking the August SAT? DM “AUGUST” and we’ll tell you the 2–3 areas most likely to increase your score before test day based on your current score and biggest weaknesses.

Success on the Digital SAT isn’t about studying more. It’s about making better decisions.

Follow TutorPlus for evidence-based SAT preparation, SAT study strategies, SAT tips, and practical advice to maximise your SAT score.

The students who consistently score 1450+ on the Digital SAT aren’t just better at solving questions. They’re better at understanding what they’re reading.

A strong vocabulary doesn’t just help on “vocabulary questions.” It quietly improves your ability to understand passages, identify subtle differences between answer choices, and eliminate traps faster.

That’s why vocabulary compounds.

One new word won’t change your score. Learning a few every week for months just might.

The students who make the biggest SAT score gains usually don’t rely on luck. They build small advantages that add up over time.

Save this post and come back to these words before your next SAT practice test.

Comment your score out of 7. If you knew all seven, comment “7/7”. If there was one word you’ve never seen before, tell us which one—we’ll explain how it’s actually used on the SAT.

Most students preparing for the Digital SAT don’t fail because they aren’t working hard enough. They fail because they spend months improving the wrong things.

The SAT doesn’t reward effort. It rewards precision.

A single weakness can quietly cost you 80–150 SAT points, even if you’re studying every day.

The challenge is that most students never identify that weakness. They just keep solving more SAT practice questions and hope their score eventually goes up.

The students who make the biggest SAT score improvements don’t necessarily study longer. They get clearer.

They know exactly:
• what deserves their time,
• what doesn’t,
• and what will move their score the fastest.

That’s the difference between preparing for the SAT and preparing efficiently.

“Am I improving or am I just staying busy?”

Want a personalised strategy instead? DM “SAT” and we’ll help you identify where your biggest score gains are likely to come from.

Most students don’t lose SAT points because they don’t know enough grammar. They lose points because they misread the structure of a sentence.

That’s an important difference.

The highest-scoring students on the Digital SAT aren’t memorizing hundreds of rules before every practice test. They’re learning to recognize patterns that appear again and again across SAT Reading & Writing questions.

That’s why we’re launching SAT Challenge. One question. One concept. One pattern worth remembering.

Because improving your SAT score isn’t about collecting more explanations. It’s about training your brain to recognize what the College Board is actually testing.

If your SAT score hasn’t improved despite taking more SAT practice tests, this is probably why.

Most students don’t have a knowledge problem; they have a feedback problem

They finish a Digital SAT practice test.
They check the score. They read the answer key. Then they move on to the next test only to repeat the same mistakes again.

After teaching SAT students for well over a decade, we’ve noticed something interesting:
Students who earn the biggest SAT score improvements don’t necessarily solve more questions. They learn more from every mistake.

Every incorrect answer should answer three questions:

• Why did I get this wrong?
• What concept or pattern did I miss?
• What should I practice next so I don’t make this mistake again?

That’s how SAT scores improve. Not through endless practice. Through deliberate SAT practice.

The best SAT prep isn’t about doing more questions. It’s about making every question count.

Most students prepare for the SAT by collecting rules.

Use a comma here. Use a semicolon there.
Memorize this exception. Remember that trick.

It works until test day throws them a question they’ve never seen before.

High scorers don’t rely on memorized rules.
They rely on frameworks.

A framework helps you solve questions you’ve never practiced because you understand the structure behind them—not just the answer.

That’s where real confidence comes from.
Not from memorizing dozens of grammar rules. But from recognizing the patterns the SAT tests again and again.

That’s how we’ve taught students for over a decade. Not by teaching them what to think. By teaching them how to think.

The rules may fade. The framework won’t.

1500+ score usually isn’t about knowing more. It’s about making fewer avoidable mistakes.

The frustrating part?

Most students never lose points because the SAT is “too hard.” They lose points because they:

• Ignore tools that save time.
• Read inefficiently.
• Repeat the same mistakes without ever tracking them.

None of those require a higher IQ. They require a better system.

Small improvements compound. A few seconds saved per question. One mistake you never repeat. One better strategy.

By test day, that’s often the difference between a score you’re happy with and one you know you could’ve done better on.

Save it or share this with someone who is taking the SAT this year.

Most students use about 10% of what Desmos can actually do.

The highest scorers don’t.

• They use it to compare equations without expanding them.
• They let it reveal intersections instead of solving long systems by hand.
• They build tables in seconds to spot patterns and model functions.
•They trace graphs to read exact coordinates instead of estimating.
• They zoom out when a graph looks impossible.
• They use regression to uncover equations hidden inside data.

And perhaps the biggest advantage of all is that
They know when to trust Desmos—and when algebra is actually faster. That’s the difference.

Desmos isn’t a shortcut. It’s a decision-making tool.

The Digital SAT gives every student the exact same calculator. The score difference comes from knowing how to think with it.

This carousel covers 10 techniques we teach our own students to save time, reduce careless mistakes, and approach SAT Math more strategically.

Most students don’t need to learn more SAT concepts to increase their score.

They need to stop giving away points they could have kept.

A 1200, 1300, or even 1400 often comes down to simple habits that students overlook during every practice test.

In this post, you’ll learn four common mistakes that quietly lower SAT scores—and how to avoid them.

Save this post before your next SAT practice.

Admissions are now open for our SAT 2026 programs.
