I have read 100s of books till now, but there was one that really stood out:
The Almanack of Naval Ravikant: A Guide to Wealth and Happiness
10 valuable lessons from the book: A [Thread🧵]
[1] Wealth Creation
To create wealth, you have to provide value to society.
Give thrice, take once.
Give what society needs but they don’t know it yet.
Money is not wealth. Don’t get confused.
[2] Create Leverage
“You’re never to get rich renting your time”
When I first read this, I was stunned.
All our lives we heard that the only way to make wealth is to get a job and work until we retire.
However, you can also make money work for you by investing in equity.
[3] Play long term games with long term people
All great things result in compounding. Be it your business, relationship, daily habits, building start-ups, friendships, and everything.
The power of compounding is unmatchable.
So, play long-term games and don’t stop.
[4] Being Yourself
Life is all about being yourself.
The whole idea is to follow your curiosity, your dreams, and your passion.
Don’t fall into the societal trap. Build a life on your own terms.
[5] Peace from Mind
“The mind should be a servant, not the master”.
We tend to overthink when our mind is not at rest.
We all heard about peace of mind, but talked about peace from the mind.
Let this blow your mind for a second.
[6] Happiness is Learned
Happiness is not an end destination. It is a journey.
Happiness is not money. It's not a success either.
It’s an endless skill that we learn.
“Happiness is there when you remove the sense of something missing in your life”
[7] Play to you and work for others
When you find what you love to do, you enjoy every second of it.
Once you find that one thing, you don’t have to push yourself every day. You just automatically would do it out of curiosity.
[8] Specific Knowledge
“Specific knowledge cannot be taught, but it can be learned”.
With the internet, you can search, create, find anything you want.
Nobody can replicate you, no matter how hard they try.
[9] Life is a Single-Player Game
“You’re born alone. You’re going to die alone. All your memories are alone. You’re gone in three generations, and nobody cares. Before you showed up, nobody cared.”
Let this blow your mind for a second.
[10] Concept of freedom
Freedom doesn’t come from money. The actual freedom is to do and be whatever you want to be.
“I’m looking for freedom internally and externally, whereas before I was looking for freedom to.”
