In honour of Mother’s Day, our Grade 3–5 students shared little messages in Urdu about the women who mean the world to them.
Simple words. Big feelings. The kind only children can say so honestly. Happy Mother’s Day to the mothers, grandmothers, and mother figures who fill childhood with warmth, patience, comfort, and unconditional love.

They arrived at Gulmohar that morning a little taller than before — bags on their shoulders, walking in like the big kids they are becoming.
Caps were placed, tassels adjusted, and they took their seats in the atrium, holding a quiet kind of excitement that only moments like this bring.
The ceremony began with words from their teachers — the ones who have watched them grow, stumble, learn, and find their voice. There was laughter, a few tears, and so much pride in the room. Ms Hashim then addressed the students, sharing her thoughts and marking the moment as each child came forward to receive their scrolls.
One of the most special parts of the morning followed — our Grade 3 students read out messages from parents, while baby pictures played on the screen. A reminder of just how far they’ve come. They were then welcomed into what comes next — guided through Grade 3 classrooms by the very students who were once in their place.
And then, as all good childhood moments should, it shifted back into joy — games, dancing statues, laughter echoing through the space. The day ended with caps thrown high into the air, and a bus ride back to Banyan — full, noisy, and happy.

The Passion Project Showcase at Ivy offered a powerful glimpse into the curiosity, creativity and independent learning of our Grade 1 and 2 students.
Passion Projects at Ivy invite children to pursue a topic of personal interest and develop it into an inquiry grounded in real-world application and community learning. Rooted in learner attributes—confidence, responsibility and reflection—students take ownership of their learning and think beyond the surface.
From models and charts to demonstrations and explanations, each project reflected strong skills in problem-solving, measurement, data handling and communication. Students articulated their thinking, responded to questions, and demonstrated growing confidence in expressing their ideas.
At the Showcase, individual stations allowed peers, teachers and parents to engage with each project—making it a meaningful celebration of learner agency, oracy and thoughtful inquiry.

Our JK students were recently immersed in playful addition and subtraction games that built real number understanding. In one activity, children spun a number, worked out what to take away, and carefully recorded the new answer in their boxes. In another, they climbed a number ladder using dice and dinosaur counters, solving addition problems through movement, strategy, and excitement.
What may have looked like games were actually rich mathematical experiences. Children were practising counting, one-to-one correspondence, number sequencing, early operations, recording answers, and developing the confidence to solve problems independently.
At Ivy, we believe strong numeracy foundations are built when children experience maths as something active, meaningful, and enjoyable. The best early learning often comes wrapped in laughter and play.
This week, our Junior Kindergarten students have been reading short sentences from one another’s headbands, turning literacy practice into a playful game full of excitement and confidence.
What may have looked like simple fun was actually meaningful early reading in action, with children decoding words, tracking sentences, recognising familiar patterns, and eagerly reading aloud to their friends.
These moments matter. When reading is connected to joy, children build confidence, stamina, and a genuine love for learning. They begin to see themselves as readers long before formal expectations ever arrive.
At Ivy, we believe strong foundations are built when academic learning feels alive, engaging, and developmentally appropriate. Sometimes the most powerful learning happens when children are smiling.

This year, Ivy proudly hosted its first-ever Interhouse History Olympiad, turning the study of the past into something vivid, competitive, and unforgettable. From the Crusades to the French Revolution, the World Wars, and the story of Pakistan, our Grades 6–8 students journeyed across centuries through a specially curated syllabus designed to spark curiosity and depth of understanding.
The atmosphere was electric. The Olympiad began with a high-energy rapid-fire round, moved into an intense buzzer battle, and then into a lively game of dumb charades where key moments and figures from history came dramatically to life.
The top two houses, Denali and Everest, advanced to the grand finale: an immersive escape room challenge that demanded knowledge, teamwork, strategy, and calm under pressure. After a thrilling contest, Denali emerged victorious.
At Ivy, history is never confined to textbooks. It is debated, performed, solved, and remembered.

As part of our “How-To” writing workshop series, our little learners took charge as the real teachers—walking us step-by-step through the art of making a jam sandwich. The twist? The adults had to follow exactly what was said… no improvising, no rescuing!
The result: a mix of brilliant instructions, some very creative interpretations (“put LOTS of jam!”), and a whole lot of laughter. Between the giggles and sticky fingers, something powerful was happening—children began to realise just how important clear, precise instructions are (especially when your sandwich depends on it).
A little messy, very funny, and absolutely full of learning.
