I was invited by Ms. Rumaisa the PYPC of The International School to conduct a Virtual Session on the core elements of the PYP Exhibition. I gave the students of PYP 5 an overview of my decade long experience of the exhibition and helped them delve into the importance of being a part of this joyous journey. It was an inquiry packed session where we spoke about the expectations and milestones to achieve. All in all it was a wholesome experience. Reflection of post session showcased a clarity of mind helping omit any confusion circling around the process. I was honored to be a part of kickstarting their journey to the PYP Exhibition.

Her journey to Leadership - Rumaisa Kidwai:
My journey with Rumaisa began in 2015 on a PYP platform on Facebook. She reached out with a question, and I was lucky enough to have the answer. At the time, we were both PYP facilitators in different IB schools in Karachi, Pakistan, navigating the complexities of the PYP program. She was looking for guidance on the PYP Exhibition, and I was eager to help. We exchanged numbers, and I shared my practices with her through videos. That brief exchange was the extent of our interaction—until 2018.
When the new academic year began, I was delighted to see her as a new recruit at my school. Our interaction was formal, a passing hello in the midst of a busy day. But from that moment, I watched her grow. She soared, like an eagle, as a PYP facilitator. Her dedication, depth of knowledge, and relentless drive to learn were inspiring. She approached her work with a passion that was impossible to ignore, and when I was promoted to PYP Coordinator, there was no question in my mind about who should take my place as the PYP 5 teacher and Exhibition coordinator.
Handing over this role, which had been my pride and joy, was no small decision. But I knew she would honor it wholeheartedly. Rumaisa, however, had her doubts—she questioned her own capabilities, not because she lacked confidence but because she set the bar high and refused to be anything less than exceptional. Her genuine love for nurturing her students shone through every lesson she taught. She took up the challenge, and her natural ability, resilience, and dedication continued to shine as a PYP 5 facilitator and exhibition supervisor.
Her mastery of inquiry-based learning was especially remarkable. Rumaisa brought inquiry alive in the classroom in a way that is rare and truly impactful. Without a doubt, she is among the finest educators in Pakistan, particularly in bringing inquiry-based learning to life. Today, her passion, her integrity, and her unwavering commitment have earned her the position of PYP Coordinator—a role she embodies with pride. I couldn’t be prouder. Happy Birthday Rumaisa. Keep Inspiring !!
