Center for Entrepreneurial Development, Innovation & Research Empowering Entrepreneurs, Transforming Futures Established in 2008, CED initially introduced entrepreneurship as a course.

The Center for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) is envisioned to play a strategic role in promoting entrepreneurship in Pakistan and to create a new breed of youth and professionals who believe in opportunity recognition and new venture creation. It's primary emphasis is to enable the new generation of Pakistani entrepreneurs to translate their ideas into enterprises. Accordingly, CED aims to support creation of new companies that add substantial jobs, incomes and revenues to Pakistan's economy. However, as of now CED is an independent Centre with state of art campus facilities spread over 40,120ss Sft. The Centre has its own class rooms, seminar halls, library, computer labs and dedicated incubation space and foreign trained faculty to facilitate innovative business models and growing enterprises. The Centre is operating in strategic alliance with Babson College of Entrepreneurship in Boston (USA) and has also established several local partnerships for promoting Entrepreneurship all over Pakistan.

Turning research into impact requires strong systems, clear pathways, and the right partnerships.

A delegation from IBA CEDIR, comprising Dr. Lalarukh Ejaz, Director, CEDIR; Mr. Muhammad Hassan Khan, Associate Director, CEDIR; and Ms. Nimra Kamran, Senior Manager, CEDIR, visited LUMS to exchange insights on research management, entrepreneurship, innovation, and commercialization.

The delegation engaged with Mr. Muhammad Faisal, Head, Office of Research; Dr. Muhammad Shehryar Shahid, Associate Professor, Suleman Dawood School of Business; and Dr. Muhammad Abdur Rahman Malik, Associate Professor and Associate Dean Research, Suleman Dawood School of Business.

Discussions covered the research lifecycle, grants and post-award management, ethics and IRB, incubation, mentoring, prototyping, investor readiness, corporate innovation, and research-to-market pathways, offering valuable insights for strengthening CEDIR’s approach to research governance, faculty and student entrepreneurship, commercialization, and industry collaboration.

Strong research ecosystems need clear pathways from ideas to impact.

On 10 September 2026, a delegation from IBA CEDIR, comprising Dr. Lalarukh Ejaz, Director, CEDIR; Mr. Muhammad Hassan Khan, Associate Director, CEDIR; and Ms. Nimra Kamran, Senior Manager, CEDIR, visited University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore to learn from its research, entrepreneurship, and commercialization ecosystem.

The delegation engaged with Dr. Sayyed Mohsin Kazmi, Director ORIC and Professor of Chemical Engineering; Dr. Muhammad Nasir Malik, Professor, Institute of Business & Management; and Mr. Farhan Ahmed, Head of Incubation Centre.

A new collaboration for the future of football and sports education in Pakistan.

On September 18, 2026, IBA’s Sports Cluster at the School of Business Studies (SBS), Karachi United Football Foundation Trust, and IBA CEDIR signed an MoU to promote joint research, seminars, and future learning opportunities in football management and sports sciences.

The MoU was signed by Dr. Abdullah Zafar Sheikh, Dean SBS; Dr. Nida Aslam, Lead, Sports Cluster; Dr. Lalarukh Ejaz, Director CEDIR; and Ali Ata, Co-Founder, Karachi United.

Through this collaboration, the partners aim to connect research, data, sports expertise, and entrepreneurship to support a stronger football and sports ecosystem.

IBA’s Sports Cluster (SBS) signed an MoU with Karachi United Football Foundation Trust and CEDIR on Sept 18th, 2026, paving the way for joint research, seminars, and future courses in football management and sports sciences.

I-Venture 9 brought the IBA campus to life as student entrepreneurs transformed their ideas into real experiences, products, and ventures.

From food stalls drawing crowds to handmade creations, unique concepts, and promising business ideas, every corner had something new to discover. More than just a marketplace, it was a space for students to showcase their creativity, test their ideas, connect with people, and experience entrepreneurship in action.

A day full of hustle, conversations, creativity, and some seriously impressive ventures.
