This Independence Day arrived amid grief, anger and difficult questions. Children in Karachi remain vulnerable to abuse and violence, precious lives are being lost, families continue to wait for justice, and Kashmir continues to endure immense pain.
In such times, celebration can feel difficult. Planting trees cannot solve these injustices, nor can it take away the suffering around us. But when so much feels beyond our control, we can still choose to act within our own capacity, to protect, rebuild and invest in something that gives life.
With this intention, more than 300 volunteers from Standard Chartered, a government school and Irverde GoGreen came together to plant over 400 plants: living assets that will continue to grow, provide cleaner air and leave behind a greener space for the generations that follow.
Things may not be as we wish them to be, but we must not stop doing what we can to make this land safer, healthier and better. This country is ours, and so is the responsibility to care for it. 🇵🇰🌱
