Confusing your and you’re has to be one of the most common grammar mistakes made in the English language.
People tend to mix up the two mainly because both words sound the same when they’re spoken so, what’s the difference? Take a look at the examples below:
Incorrect: Your early today.
Correct: You’re early today.
You’re is short for ‘you are’
Incorrect: Is this you’re pen?
Correct: Is this your pen?
Hint: If you’re having trouble deciding the correct term to use, just remember that if you can replace the word with ‘you are’ then you should select you’re. Otherwise, you should only select your.

Top Ten IELTS Speaking Tips
1:Grammar - Use correct grammar. A/An/The (Articles) and Plurals in particular.
2:Clarity - Do not mumble and speak clearly. Always pay close attention to what you are saying.
3:Accuracy - Focus on clear grammar and precision. Do not try to use new words or phrases you are unsure of.
4:Self-correct - Always correct yourself if you know you made a mistake. This is called self-correction.
5:Talk loudly - Talk loud enough. so that the examiner can assess you. Do not speak too quietly or mumble your words.
6:Be Confident - Be confident and positive.
7:Make it personal - Talk about yourself. Give an example about yourself. Make it personal!
8: Make it interesting - Give an example about yourself. Make sure it's interesting and this will help you!
9: Stick to the topic! - Stick to the topic given and make sure you answer the question.
10:Talk as much as you can! - Always make sure you talk as much as possible. Even if you are shy! If you do not speak you cannot be marked and will be given a lower band score. You must talk as much as you can for best results.

Top Ten IELTS Writing Tips
1. Timing - Use your time wisely. Read the questions carefully and plan your essay using brainstorming. Complete task 1 within 10 mins and spend 5 mins checking it. You should spend no more than 15 mins on task n and 45 mins on task 2.
2. Planning - Write down your examples in bullet points to make notes. so you don't forget what to write. Try to think of. many ideas you can.
3. Accuracy - Always check your work for grammar. spelling or punctuation errors.
4. Word count - Complete more than 250 words. but no less than 350 if you want a band 7.
5. Structure- Always use clear structure. firstly. secondly, on the other hand. for example. for instance. to sum up. to conclude with, in conclusion etc.
6. Depth - Use clear examples and signify these using - for instance. for example etc.
7. Use examples from the media. something you read. a friend's experience. your own experience. examples from another country and your own country for best results.
8. Spelling - Make sure you spell every word correctly. as you will lose unnecessary marks for poor spelling.
9. Review - Review your essay and read it back to yourself. Does it make sense? Any changes? Forgot to add something?
10. Proofread - At the end you need to proofread everything and double check your answers as much as possible. This will improve your accuracy. You will need a really high level of detail and attention to detail for a band 7 or above.
