Zorain Nizamani, a young Pakistani author pursuing a PhD in the United States, has become the talk of the town after his article was taken down following alleged pressure from powerful quarters.
His writing has since gained widespread attention and is being widely circulated online. In the piece, he wrote: “The youth is deeply frustrated. Having learned that standing up to powerful forces comes at a heavy cost, many now choose to leave Pakistan quietly—and without regret.”
He further added: “Dreams of large resistance movements feel unrealistic to them. They’ve seen what happens to those who spoke up before: silenced by force. Leaving has become the safer, and even happier, choice.”
