It is a proud moment for Dept. of Geography to acknowledge an outstanding contribution of Meritorious Prof. Dr. Jamil H. Kazmi our distinguished mentor in the field of Geography, and his talented team members Ms. Maryam Khan and Dr. Saima Shaikh for publishing Oxford AQA International GCSE Pakistan Studies –The Human and Physical Geography of Pakistan, published by Oxford University Press.
This authoritative textbook offers comprehensive coverage of Pakistan’s physical and human geography, enriched with maps, and graphs that meet international academic standards.
This achievement follows their earlier milestone — the Oxford Atlas for Pakistan, a benchmark reference for students and educators alike.

A 3 days workshop was organized by Dept. of Geography, University of Karachi on "AI Application in Spatial and Environmental Sciences through Drone Technology" from May 3-5, 2024. More than 30 participants included students and faculty members, who attended the workshop, from different universities of Pakistan. Ms. Sabiha mengal (Assistant Professor) and Mr. Tehmoor, Baluchistan University, Mr. Syed Umair, Lecturer, NED University, Karachi, Mr. Muhammad Hussain, Lecturer, IUB, Dr. Ishtiaq, (chemistry Dept.) & Ms. Ismat from DHA college, Mr. Arjan Das, Principal, City College, other than faculty members also Students from Dept. of Geography, FUUAST, Karachi, Students from Dept. of Zoology Dept. of Botany, UoK, and Students of Dept. of Geography, UoK attended the workshop. Instructors of the workshop were Mer. Prof. Dr. Jamil Kazmi, UoK & Director Fatimya Education Network, Ms. Sana Arshad, Assistant Professor, IUB, Ms. Maryam Khan, Senior GIS Analyst, Farmevo & Dr. Saima Shaikh, Assistant Professor, UoK... Alhamdulilah, it was an excellent learning opportunity for participants

We are pleased to inform that the Department of Geography and SPARK lab of Uni. of Karachi organized a one day International seminar on the Revitalization of Green Spaces, Urban Development & Future Technological. The seminar has been organised in the context of the worldwide event of GIS day on October 18, 2023. The keynote speakers were Prof. Dr. Paul Darus (USA), Prof. Dr. Zifhang Wang(China), Dr. Mahsa Tarashkar(Iran), Prof. Dr. Salman Qureshi (Germany) and Prof. Farhan Anwer (Pakistan) presented their work online. Furthermore, Mer. Prof. Dr. Jamil kazmi ( Executive Director, Fatimiya University), Prof. Dr. Safdar Ali Shirazi (Former Director, Institute of Geography, University of the Punjab), Ms. Sana Arshad (Islamia University Bahawalpur), Ms. Zahra Ali (Ecologist & Entrepreneur) Dr. Yasmeen Anis, Ms. Maryam Zehra, Ms. Maryam Khan and Dr. Saima Shaikh (Dept. of Geography, UoK) presented their work (in person). In addition, the students of M.Sc (final year) also present their work in poster competition session and 5 groups win ArcGIS pro 1 year licence as gift. Seminar ends with the cake cutting ceremony of GIS Day 2023.

Alhamdulilah, it was an overwhelmed seminar as the high number of students attending sessions in person and online... these are some glimpses of the event...
