With this batch 6 of Emerging Leadership Academy, we planned something special...
This is a fully funded program of Dow University of Health Sciences, where we select the students from the whole University and teach them basics of Leadership...
On the last day, instead of the usual shields, we presented our participants little potted plants.
There was a thought behind it...
We wanted them to take something home that would remain alive and grow in front of their eyes...
Something they would have to care for.
Something that would quietly grows with them.
It was to be a little reminder of what learning is supposed to do to us...
And then, this batch surprised us too...
While we had planned something special for them, they had planned something special for us...
They came with their own gifts, thoughtful, personal, filled with words and memories from the journey we had shared.
We gifted them plants because we wanted to see them grow...
They gave us memories that reminded us why we do what we do...
Perhaps this is one of the most beautiful things about teaching.
You enter a classroom hoping to leave something behind in your students, and every once in a while, they leave something behind in you too...
As Director of Emerging Leadership Academy, I am so glad that the sessions helped them in meaningful ways...
That little plant carries a simple message for all of us that we must keep growing.
Keep learning.
Keep becoming.
Perhaps, when we meet again someday, all of us, and the little plants of ours will have beautiful stories of growth to tell.
And perhaps, years from now, some of these plants will still be sitting somewhere on a windowsill...
And these gifts will still be sitting on our shelves...
Quietly reminding both us that, for a little while, our journeys crossed, and we helped each other grow.
May Allah put barakah in our journeys and make each of us a source of goodness and benefit wherever we go.
Ameen.
Thanking Prof. Asima Faisal , Mohammad Babar who share the teaching load with me..
Khurram Ahmed and Hassan for manging the backstage...
