Opportunities don't wait....

I had never actually met Professor Ahmed...

I had only heard his name a few times during college days from my friend Usman, who used to go to him to study Mathematics....

My subjects at DJ Science College were of pre-medical, so I had nothing to do with Maths teachers...

Rao Zeeshan is one of my readers, who now lives in Canada, these days, he is writing down his memories...

A few days ago, he asked me to find a picture of Professor Ahmed as he wrote a piece about him....

He wrote that even today, he still remembers the way Prof. Ahmed used to teach...

He requested me if I could somehow find a photograph of him...

So I posted the request in my teachers’ groups.....

An old friend, Prof Dawood Umer responded to the request, and the search for a photograph began..

This was late 90, not 40s, but it proved to be one hard quest...

It took us more than a week...

People searched through old college records, opened forgotten files...

Looked through registers and archives, and finally found one picture, a formal passport size photograph...

While sending a message of gratitude, I found myself remembering all those teachers from DJ Science College who once taught us...

Prof. Musa Kamilani, Madam Tahira, Professor Nagpal, Prof. Rizwan Haider, Prof. Muhammad Rizwan, Prof. Afzal, Professor Anjum Riaz, Professor Shamim, Professor Naimatullah, Professor Amjad Ali Syed, and then there are a few faces that still exist clearly in memory, I have forgotten the names...

Today, when this photograph finally surfaced, I found myself wondering...

What kind of people were they?

They worked quietly, without noise, without branding themselves, and people would reach out to them only through word of mouth.....

They left such deep imprints on hearts that even decades later, people still sit down searching for their photographs...

I wish, I could be like them....

I taught for two semesters..

Then I found a place at IoBM and for nearly five years, until COVID, I taught Executive MBA students there…

This picture is from my BBA Paychology class from almost ten years ago..

There has always been a quiet joy in engaging with ideas that shape human behavior…

Psychology…
Leadership…
Marketing…
Communication...
Emotional intelligence…
Personal development…

Not just reading them…
But living them, discussing them, teaching them…

That journey naturally expanded…
An MBA in Marketing…
A Master’s in Organizational Psychology…
Certifications in NLP, life coaching, leadership…

And then when I encountered the concept of “Bird in Hand” through Dr. Shahid Qureshi, everything connected…

Everything I had learned, taught, experienced…

It all merged together and Numood came into existence…

Do the work that calls you…
Stay with it…
Refine it…
Live it…
Repeat it…
Until it begins to define you…
Give it time…
At least ten years…
So that people identify You with Your field...

An individual contacted me a few months back, his wife had caught him red-handed chatting with another woman…

He apologized, promised to improve himself, and the life went on...

She, despite being hurt, chose to move forward…

Time passed…

And then, he was caught again, repeating the same pattern…

This time with someone else…

He had made a promise…
But he didn’t honor it…

She threatened separation…

He felt the weight of it…
He realized that he really needed to do something about it..

He wanted to show her that this time would be different…

He spoke to me..

I gave him some advice and told him that if he truly wants things to change, she had to let her see that he is workibng on himself..
will work on yourself, intentionally and with guidance…

I made arrangements for his first session..

What happened next…
I don’t know…

Ten minutes before our meeting, he sent a message…

“There is a forecast for rain, so I am not coming…”

He didn’t show up, but the sun showed up and shined all day...

Typical Karachi forecast..

I don’t know what became of their relationship…

I didn’t ask…
He didn’t share…

But I have seen this pattern often…

When someone reaches out… hoping to “fix” another person, the deeper question quietly remains…

Does that person want to grow?

One of my teachers, Kamran Sultan used to emphasized this with great clarity…

A person who does not choose growth, does not move, even. thw Creator doesn't change his condition..

So who are we to force that shift?

At times, I had let my emotions guide me, and tried to work with someone, who was pushed by someone else...

The outcome stayed the same…

No follow-through…
No ownership…
And eventually, distance and failure..

Because when a person does not take ownership and reaponsibility of correcting their patterns…
They repeat these patterns…

And every repetition raises the cost…

The cost of not working on oneself, overtakes the cost of growth…
It compounds…

And one day, it becomes unbearable..

آپ خود کو کتنا جانتے ہیں؟
اس سے فرق پڑتا ہے۔۔۔
بہت فرق پڑتا ہے۔۔۔

خود کو سمجھنے اور جاننے کے ہمیں مختلف طریقے ملتے ہیں۔۔

اپنے سیشنز میں میں عام طور سے خود شناسی کا سفر ان خصوصیات سے شروع کرواتا ہوں جو ہمیں تخلیق کرنے والے رب نے قرآن کریم میں بیان فرمائے ہیں۔۔۔

جو ہمارے ڈیفالٹ ہیں۔۔۔

جیسے کہ انسان بڑا ہی ناشکرا ہے۔۔
اور انعامات جو اس نے ان خصوصیات پر قابو پانے پر رکھے ہیں۔۔۔

خود کو اپ گریڈ کرنے پر رکھے ہیں۔۔

جیسا کہ شکرگزاری کا انعام یہ ہے کہ رب اپنی نعمتیں بڑھا دیتا ہے۔۔۔

انسان اپنے رب کو بھول جاتا ہے۔۔
اس کی سزا یہ ہے کہ پھر اپنے آپ کو بھی بھول جاتا ہے۔۔۔

اسے یاد رکھنے کا انعام یہ ہے کہ پھر وہ بھی ہمیں یاد رکھتا ہے۔۔۔

گویا ہمارا رب ہم سے ایک "غور و فکر، تفکر و تدبر "والی زندگی چاہتا ہے۔۔

ساتھ ساتھ میں اسے رب کا تعارف بھی کرواتا جاتا ہوں۔۔
کیوں کہ میری نظر میں اس کی ڈسکوری زندگی کے مقاصد میں سے ہے۔۔
جب آپ اسے جانیں گے ہی نہیں تو اس کی عبادت کیسے دل سے کریں گے؟
اس پر عملی طور پر توکل کیسے رکھیں گے۔۔۔

پھر ہم شخصیت سے متعلق کچھ سروے کرتے ہیں۔۔۔

پہلے ان سے خود کو سمجھنے میں مدد ملتی ہے۔۔
پھر دوسروں کو۔۔۔

جب آپ خود کو اور دوسروں کو سمجھنے لگتے ہیں تو اس سے آپ کو اپنا کمیونیکیشن سٹائل ترتیب دینے میں مدد ملتی ہے۔۔۔

آپ کو سمجھ آتا ہے کہ آپ نے بات کس انداز میں کرنی ہے۔۔
کون سی بات کس شخصیت رکھنے والے کے ساتھ پہلے کرنی ہے، کون سی بات بعد میں کرنی ہے۔۔۔
یہاں میں فریمنگ بھی سکھاتا ہوں۔۔
ایک ہی بات کو کس طرح مختلف پیرایوں میں رکھا جا سکتا ہے۔۔۔

ہم آپ کی سٹرینتھس اور ویکنسز پر بھی کام کرتےہیں۔۔۔

آگے کی منصوبہ بندی کرتے ہیں۔۔۔

یہ سب کچھ انفرادی طور سکھاتا ہوں۔۔۔
آمنے سامنے بیٹھ کر۔۔۔
کیوں کہ ہر انسان مختلف ہوتا ہے۔۔
اور اس کے مسائل دوسروں سے مختلف ہوتے ہیں۔۔۔
اسے سمجھانے اور سکھانے سے پہلے اسے سمجھنا مجھے ضروری لگتا ہے۔۔۔

کیوں کہ یہ آن لائن سیشنز خاص آپ کے لیے ڈیزائن ہوتےہیں، اور ان پر بہت سارا وقت اور توانائی خرچ ہوتی ہے تو ان کی فیس بھی پریمیم ہے۔۔

کچھ لوگوں کو ان کی فیس زیادہ محسوس ہوتی ہے۔۔۔

میرا اپنے کلائنٹس ے وعدہ ہوتا ہے کہ جتنا چارج کروں گا، ویلیو آپ کو اتنی ملے گی، خود سے وعدہ ہوتا ہے کہ اس سے زیادہ ملے گی۔۔۔

ہمیشہ جھکتا ہوا تولوں گا۔۔۔

ویلیو کے علاوہ ان سلسلوں کا ایک بڑا ایڈوانٹیج جوابدہی ہوتا ہے۔۔

کہ جب آپ اگلے ہفتے تشریف لاتے ہیں تو پہلے سوال اس بات کا ہوتا ہے کہ جو سیکھا تھا اس پر عمل کتنا کیا؟

ایسے تمام افراد کو میں یہی کہتا ہوں کو جو کچھ آپ سیکھنا چاہتے ہیں، وہ میرے فیس بک، واٹسیپ، یو ٹیوب ، لنکڈ ان پر بے ترتیب انداز میں بکھرا پڑا ہے۔۔۔

آپ خرچہ نہیں کرنا چاہتے تو تھوڑی زیادہ محنت کر لیں۔۔
اور اس سے جتنا فائدہ اٹھا سکتے ہیں اٹھا لیں۔۔۔

ان لنکس کو میں کمینٹس میں لکھ رہا ہوں۔۔
آپ انہیں فالو کر کے اس سب کچھ سے
جتنا فائدہ اٹھا سکتے ہیں اٹھا لیں۔۔۔

اس کی فیس صرف دعائیں۔۔

بس یہ اپنے سامنے لکھ لیں کہ علم پر عمل کا ایک قطرہ علم کے اس سمندر سے بہتر ہوتا ہے جس پر عمل نہ کیا جائے۔۔۔

کیوں کہ کچھ عرصے میں اس میں سے بدبو آنے لگتی ہے۔۔۔

عمل کی نیت سے پڑھیں۔۔
ہمارے رب کے نزدیک وہ عمل جو تھوڑا ہو مگر دوام کے ساتھ ہو، زیادہ محبوب ہے۔۔۔

دوسروں تک بھی پہنچائیں۔۔
جو فائدہ کسی دوسرے کو ہو گا آپ کے بھی کام آ جائے گا۔۔۔۔

Ordinary gardens would fruit once, while the garden of Anas (RA) would bear fruits twice a year...

By the time he (RA) passed away, he had more than a hundred children and grandchildren...

He (RA) served the Prophet ﷺ for approximately ten years...

Once, his mother requested the Prophet ﷺ to make a prayer for her son, who was serving him...

The Prophet ﷺ prayed:
اللَّهُمَّ أَكْثِرْ مَالَهُ، وَوَلَدَهُ، وَبَارِكْ لَهُ فِيمَا أَعْطَيْتَهُ
(Bukhari 6334)

"O Allah, increase his wealth and offspring, and bless him in what You have given him."

We should pray for abundance in their wealth and offspring and also strive for halal sustenance.

Last week, I was explaining to one of my clients that, within her permissible limits, striving for sustenance is not "greed."

(This thought was stuck in my mind for a long time until a question from my coach-like friend Adnan Hussain helped clear it.)

A little while after our conversation, this picture suddenly appeared in my phone's memories, so I sent it to her for confirmation. Perhaps it had surfaced just for her...

You too should ask from Him anything You want
..
He is the owner of the treasures of the heavens and the earth, and He grants to whom He wills...
He is the King...
While asking, don't focus on your tattered self but on the vastness His mercy...
And ask from Him for His love...
For His closeness...
And whatever else you wish to ask for...
And then strive for it as well...

If abundance in sustenance was something undesirable, the Prophet ﷺ would not have prayed for wealth and offspring for his beloved servant...

Extracting from the words of the Prophet ﷺ

اللَّهُمَّ أَكْثِرْ مَالَی، وَوَلَدَی، وَبَارِكْ لَی فِيمَا أَعْطَيْتَنی

Just remember, you should live in the world...
But the world should not live in you...
