What a remarkable and emotional day it was for our PYP community on Saturday, 9th May, as our young learners proudly showcased their PYP Exhibition journeys.

The Exhibition was more than just a presentation of projects, it was a celebration of student voice, agency, inquiry, collaboration, and action. Watching our students confidently articulate their understanding, passionately share their learning, and thoughtfully reflect on real-world issues was a proud reminder of what authentic learning truly looks like.

From meaningful conversations to innovative ideas and heartfelt reflections, every display represented weeks of dedication, teamwork, resilience, and growth. Our learners demonstrated not only knowledge and skills, but also the compassion, confidence, and global-mindedness that lie at the heart of the IB PYP.

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible mentors, teachers, parents, and school community for guiding and supporting our students throughout this journey. Most importantly, congratulations to our PYP 5 students for inspiring us all with your curiosity, courage, and commitment to making a difference.

The future is bright, and this Exhibition was a beautiful reminder that our learners are truly capable of changing the world, one inquiry at a time.

The process before the PYPx presentation ✨

Behind every PYP Exhibition is weeks of inquiry, collaboration, creativity, reflection, and student agency in action. From brainstorming ideas and conducting research to creating displays and expressing their learning in meaningful ways, our students have truly embraced the journey of the Exhibition process.

These behind-the-scenes moments capture the heart of the IB PYP, students taking ownership of their learning, thinking critically, working collaboratively, and finding creative ways to make their understanding visible.

Tomorrow, they share not just a final presentation, but a journey of growth, action, and authentic inquiry. 🌍💡

The PYP Exhibition is not simply about presenting a final product , it is about making the journey of learning visible.

Our Exhibition Inquiry Wall became a living documentation space where students reflected deeply on their learning process throughout the exhibition journey. Through this documentation, students captured the transdisciplinary connections they discovered, how their understanding evolved over time, the challenges they encountered, and the strategies they used to overcome them.

Most importantly, students reflected on the action they felt most proud of, demonstrating how inquiry can inspire meaningful change within and beyond the classroom.
This process encouraged learners to think critically, reflect authentically, and develop greater ownership of their learning. By making thinking visible, students were able to recognize growth not only in their knowledge and research skills, but also in their confidence, agency, and understanding of themselves as inquirers.

A beautiful example of the IB PYP in action — where reflection, inquiry, agency, and action come together to create meaningful learning experiences.

At The International School, we value the power of global collaboration and professional learning within the IB community.

We were delighted to extend our support to the Early Years team at Bright Bee School, Teresina, Brazil, through an online professional learning session led by our very own Ms. Zara Falak Khoso.

With her decades of experience in Early Years education and strong expertise in the IB PYP, Ms. Falak guided educators through the journey of easing into play-based inquiry learning in the early years. The session highlighted the importance of purposeful play, student agency, exploration, and creating authentic inquiry opportunities that nurture curiosity and independence in young learners.

Collaborations like these are incredibly important within IB schools, as they strengthen international-mindedness, encourage the sharing of best practices, and create meaningful opportunities for educators across the world to learn from one another. By building these global connections, we continue to grow as reflective practitioners committed to enriching learning experiences for all students.

We are proud of Ms. Falak for representing The International School and contributing to the wider IB learning community.

Taking meaningful action is at the heart of the IB PYP learning journey. 🌍

As part of their inquiry into How the World Works, Reeyah Rafay and Javeria Siddiqui from PYP 4 demonstrated true agency by translating their understanding into purposeful action. Inspired by their learning, they designed and created three boxes representing the 3 Rs, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, to promote responsible waste management within the school community.

Through this initiative, they not only deepened their conceptual understanding but also embodied the attributes of caring and responsible learners, showing how student-initiated action can make a real difference.

Our PYP 3 students engaged in an inquiry into the human brain, exploring its structure and functions through a hands-on, transdisciplinary learning experience. Using playdough, students constructed 3D models to represent the different lobes, with each colour symbolising a specific area of the brain.

Through this process, learners developed their conceptual understanding of how various parts of the brain influence thinking, movement, senses, and balance. They made meaningful connections between structure and function, deepening their understanding of how the body systems work together.

Students demonstrated strong communication skills by sharing their thinking through short presentations, confidently explaining the role of each brain part. This learning experience fostered curiosity, creativity, and reflection, highlighting the power of learning through inquiry and student voice.
