Will Humans Evolve with Tilted Necks? A Smartphone Theory

These days, everyone is glued to their phones—texting, scrolling, swiping, stalking their ex's new partner, or watching videos of cats pretending to be humans. It’s all very important, of course. But have you noticed that to do all this, we’ve collectively adopted the “head-down, zombie-neck” position?

This daily ritual of bending our necks like flamingos looking for dropped french fries has given rise to a modern condition doctors politely call “text neck.” Back in the day, people got sore necks from sword fighting or riding horses. Now we get them from sending memes. How far we’ve come.

But here’s the real danger : if this keeps up, who knows? Maybe evolution will step in. Fast-forward a few thousand years and future humans might just be born with tilted necks, perfectly angled to check notifications. The “homo erectus” could become the “homo scroll-ectus.”

> “If current trends continue, by the year 3125 the average human will have the posture of a shrimp and the thumbs of a Greek god,” said Dr. Nagmaan Charsi, Professor of Theoretical Laziness at WhatsApp University.

Imagine babies popping out with one hand permanently shaped like it’s holding a phone and eyes that can spot a typo from 10 feet away.

> “We used to fear robot overlords,” said tech historian Babu Qalandar. “Now we fear a 12-year-old with 5 million TikTok followers and a spine shaped like a question mark.”

Of course, science hasn’t confirmed any of this (yet), but if evolution is listening: please also throw in built-in Wi-Fi and an eye filter that blocks unsolicited crypto advice.

Until then, maybe we should all just look up once in a while. The sky is still there—and last we checked, it doesn’t send push notifications.
