[HEC Update]

The uncertainty about duration of the ongoing lockdown due to Covid-19 pandemic has forced the Higher Education Commission (HEC) to ask the universities to start preparing for switching to ONLINE EDUCATION or ABANDON the CURRENT SEMESTER.

The HEC has posted a detailed report on its portal through which a thorough analysis of the situation has been made and necessary guidelines given to the universities. “If lockdown restrictions are lifted by early June, universities can return to business as usual. But if there are further delays, there will be no choice except either to switch to online education or to abandon the semester,” said HEC Chairman Dr Tariq Banuri.

[NED Admissions 2020-21]
• Major Changes in Admission Policy •

• Admissions will be given on the basis of FIRST YEAR RESULT.

• Merit criteria for Admission is also changed.
Merit Criteria for Admission will be (50% First Year Result + 50% Test Marks)
For Example: If you have 80% in First Year & 70 Marks in test (80x0.5 + 70x0.5 = 75).
Your Final merit will be 70.

• Entrance test will be based on the syllabi of both the first and second year.

• Admissions will begin in July and admission tests will be held in the second week of August, while classes will commence on October 5.

The NED Academic Council approved the decision during an online meeting chaired by the varsity’s vice-chancellor, Professor Sarosh Lodhi. According to Professor Lodhi, the syndicate will give final approval to the decision very soon, after which an official announcement will be made.
