Industrial Visit | Medical Technology Students | Biomedical Engineering Department, SSUET

The Department of Biomedical Engineering, SSUET, organized a field visit to Cancer Foundation Hospital from 20–24 April 2026 for Medical Technology students.

The visit provided valuable clinical exposure to diagnostic laboratories, including hematology, phlebotomy, clinical chemistry, microbiology, and radiology, as well as hands-on experience with key instruments and lab workflows.

Students gained insights into sample handling, quality control, biosafety, and real-time diagnostic practices, bridging the gap between theory and application.

The department extends sincere gratitude to Dr. Gulnaz Khalid (HOD) and her dedicated laboratory team at Cancer Foundation Hospital for their support and guidance.

We also appreciate the efforts of Prof. Dr. Sidra Abid Syed (Chairperson, BMED) for facilitating this initiative, along with Ms. Duaa and Engr Jawad Shafique for their supervision and coordination throughout the visit.

Sir Syed Times | Special Report on CCE-2024 Results

The recently announced CCE-2024 results by the Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) have sent shockwaves across the province. What was meant to be a fair selection of Sindh’s future leadership has turned into a massive controversy, raising serious questions about the transparency and integrity of the commission.

The Numbers Don't Add Up:

Shocking Passing Ratio: Out of over 7,000+ aspirants, only 70 have been declared successful. This is a passing ratio of less than 1%, significantly lower than even the CSS, the country’s toughest competitive exam.

The CSS Paradox:Numerous candidates who have already qualified CSS 2025 and the CSS Special Exam have reportedly "failed badly" in comparatively easier SPSC papers. How can national qualifiers fail so drastically in a provincial exam?

The "Aggregate Trap": Even those who passed have been allegedly awarded unusually low marks (40–50 range) in almost every subject, seemingly to prevent them from reaching the 500-mark aggregate required for final selection.

Allegations of Favoritism: Serious claims are circulating on social media regarding the success of relatives of influential political figures. In a result where only 70 passed, the presence of two brothers from the same family and reports of candidates passing despite leaving blank papers is statistically mind-boggling.

The "Retirement Rush": With the SPSC Chairman set to retire on May 22, there are concerns that the process is being rushed and limited to a select few to conclude matters before his departure.

The hard work of years and the dreams of thousands of Sindh’s most brilliant minds cannot be discarded in the dark. We stand with the aspirants and demand:

1. Transparent Scrutiny of all answer scripts.
2. Third-Party Checking by a neutral and credible testing agency.
3. A Comprehensive Forensic Audit of the entire CCE-2024 result process.

The youth of Sindh deserve merit, not "management." It is time for the competent authorities, civil society, and every aspirant to speak up before merit is permanently buried.

Sir Syed Times proudly highlights an insightful industrial visit organized by SSUET for students of Biotechnology and Biomedical Engineering to Sure Bio Diagnostics & Pharmaceuticals, offering valuable exposure to Pakistan's rapidly advancing healthcare, diagnostics, and pharmaceutical sectors.

Led by Dr. Jahanzeb Sheikh and Engr. M. Jawad Shafique, under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Sidra Abid Syed, Chairperson of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, along with the full support of the Department of Biomedical Engineering and Guidance Centre , students explored modern laboratory operations and advanced diagnostic technologies, including NICPD, POCT, IVD, and MH-60 systems. The experience provided practical insight into blood analysis instrumentation, healthcare innovation, and the role of diagnostics in modern medicine.
