Afshan Siddiqui, Senior Lecturer, Civil Engineering Department, Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology, represented SSUET at The 5th Silk Road International Conference on the Cooperation and Integration of Industry, Education, Research and Application – The International Symposium of Safety and Emergency Management (2026) held in Xi’an, Shaanxi, China from May 29–31, 2026.

This international platform is also where Engr. Afshan is currently pursuing her PhD research, further strengthening SSUET’s engagement in global academic collaboration and innovation in safety and emergency management.

Spotlight on Excellence: Engr. Ayan Raza, Structural Expert & Junior Lecturer 🌟

Sir Syed Times is proud to spotlight Engr. Ayan Raza, a key member of our Civil Engineering faculty, who has officially earned his MS in Civil Engineering (Structural) with an outstanding grade!

TEACHING & EDUCATION:

As a Junior Lecturer, Engr. Ayan is dedicated to mentoring the next generation of engineers, delivering lectures, preparing course materials, and guiding students through complex concepts like Non-linear Structural Behavior and Finite Element Analysis.
Beyond the lecture hall, Ayan is committed to the practical development, having successfully organized multiple events, conferences, workshops, trainings, and industrial visits. These initiatives bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world engineering practice

GROUNDBREAKING ACHIEVEMENTS:

Ayan’s passion for innovation is recognized nationally and locally:

• National Idea Bank Winner: Awarded by the Honorable President of Pakistan Dr. Arif Alvi.
• Top 5 in Shell Tameer 2022 for sustainable innovation.
• PEC FYDP Grant Recipient for his final year project.
• Best Research Project award in the university.
• PEC X Aspire grant winner
• Top 25 in Prime Minister National Innovation Award (PMNIA)

RESEARCH & EXPERTISE:

His work focuses on sustainable construction, including researching concrete with recycled aggregates, plastic, and rubber waste, and publishing advanced analyses like his thesis on Bubble Deck Slabs after fire exposure. He has successfully published his work in international and world recognized journals.
