Sindh Madressatul Islam University’s Faculty of Information Technology organised a beach cleanup drive under the title of “Clean shores, green Pakistan” as a part of the Independence Day Celebrations of Pakistan on Friday, August 7, 2026. Dr. Mansoor Ahmed Khuhro, chairperson of the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Mathematical Sciences, faculty members and students participated in the activity aimed to play one’s part in environmental improvement and the creation of a sustainable environment.

SMIU Hosts “Spirit of Togetherness Cup” as a Part of Pakistan Independence Day Celebrations 2026 🏏

Under the visionary leadership of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Mujeebuddin Sahrai (S.I), Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) continues to celebrate Pakistan Independence Day 2026 with a series of engaging activities under the theme “Together for a Peaceful and Prosperous Pakistan.”

As part of these celebrations, the Sports Section, Department of Students Affairs & Counselling (DSA&C) organized a Friendly Cricket Match – “Spirit of Togetherness Cup” on Thursday, 6 August 2026, at the SMIU Cricket Ground.

Report of the 'Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir' organized by Sindh Madressatul Islam University on August 5, 2026, to show solidarity with the Kashmiri people of held Kashmir and against the revocation of Article 370 by the Indian government and atrocities being committed against the innocent people of held Kashmir by Indian forces. Vice Chancellor of SMIU, Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai, led the rally. Deans, heads of various academic and administrative departments, faculty members, officers, staff, and students participated in the rally.

The Directorate of Students' Affairs and Counselling, in collaboration with the SMIU Literary Society, organized the "National Spirit in Verse – Independence Day Poetry Competition" on August 4, at the YDC Activity Hall, as part of the university's celebrations marking Pakistan's Independence Day. The event was held in the spirit of the year's theme, "Together for a Peaceful and Prosperous Pakistan," and aimed to provide students with a creative platform to express their love for the homeland through the art of poetry.
Participants presented original verses touching on themes of patriotism, national pride, sacrifice, and hope for the country's future, reflecting the passion and creativity of SMIU's student community. The hall echoed with heartfelt recitations as students took turns sharing their work, creating a warm and patriotic atmosphere that resonated with everyone present. The competition not only celebrated literary talent but also reinforced a sense of unity and national pride among the participants.
The Directorate of Students' Affairs and Counselling extended its appreciation to the SMIU Literary Society for organizing the event, and to all the participating students for their enthusiastic involvement in commemorating this important national occasion.

Addressing the deans, heads of various academic and administrative departments, officers, staff, and students participating in the “Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir” rally at Sindh Madressatul Islam University on August 5, 2026, Vice Chancellor Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai spoke at length about the atrocities and injustices committed by Indian forces against the Kashmiris and, while strongly condemning the revocation of the autonomous status of occupied Kashmir under Article 370 by India, stated that the extent of the oppression India is inflicting upon the oppressed people of Kashmir is beyond description.
He proposed the formation of a think tank of academia of the country, from schools, colleges to the universities, to deliberate on what can be done for the Kashmiris and how they can be assisted. In this regard, the proposed think tank could offer recommendations and solutions across various sectors, including strategic affairs, education, health, defense, and the environment etc. Furthermore, it could serve as a global voice for the Kashmiris, raising awareness among the international academic community and professionals from other fields about their right to self-determination, the situation in occupied Kashmir, and the atrocities being committed against the Kashmiri people by India forces.
