A BLAST FROM THE PAST — WHERE THE ONSITE JOURNEY BEGAN 💜

Looking back at these photographs today brings back more than just memories of a workshop. They take me back to one of the earliest and most meaningful milestones in the journey of Kestrel’s World Education Systems.

On this day, we conducted our first onsite Teacher Professional Development programme at The Education Founders, focusing on:

“The 4 Cs of 21st Century Education”
Critical Thinking • Creativity • Collaboration • Communication

What made this experience even more special was the place itself.

The Education Founders was also the institution where I had once studied as a student.

Returning to the same classrooms—not as a student this time, but as an educator and facilitator working with teachers—made this first onsite training particularly meaningful for me.

At that stage, Kestrel’s World was still at the beginning of its journey. The setup was simple, the resources were limited, and there was still so much to learn.

But the purpose was already there:

to create professional learning experiences that help educators think, reflect, experiment and ultimately create better learning experiences for their students.

Fast-forward more than six years, and that small beginning has grown into a much broader professional-development journey—working with educators and institutions, designing onsite and online programmes, exploring activity-based learning, assessment, AI in education, classroom engagement, gamification, blended learning and contemporary teaching practices.

The topics have evolved.
The tools have changed.
The conversations have become deeper.

But the purpose remains the same: Better Teachers. Brighter Learners.

These photographs are a reminder that every journey has a starting point—and sometimes, looking back helps you appreciate just how far that journey has travelled.

Grateful to The Education Founders, its leadership, the participating educators, and everyone who became part of those early chapters of Kestrel’s World.

And there is still a long way to go, InshaAllah. 💜

What a wonderful way to begin September 2026!

Our three-day Learning in Action: Activity-Based Learning Across the Curriculum series has successfully concluded, bringing together educators for practical conversations around what activity-based learning should really look like — not simply keeping learners busy, but designing experiences with purpose, thinking and evidence of learning.

Across three evenings, we explored:

📗 Day 1 — Mathematics & Science
📘 Day 2 — English, Urdu & Sindhi
📙 Day 3 — Islamiat & Social Studies

What made these sessions particularly meaningful was the participation of our educators. The Reflection Walls across all three days were filled with ideas, classroom connections, thoughtful feedback and commitments to take the learning back into practice.

A heartfelt thank you to every educator who joined us, participated, reflected and contributed to this growing learning community. 💜

A glimpse into our Practical Classroom Strategies for Effective Teaching & Learning workshop at Landmark Citizens School, Karachi.

An engaging session filled with practical activities, collaboration, creativity, and ideas teachers can take straight into their classrooms.

Teachers from Landmark Citizens School-LCS Campus I and Campus II spent two hours together on the 8th of August, and the room they left was noticeably different from the one they walked into.

Kestrels World, through the Muhammad Suleman Professional Development Center, was invited by Landmark Citizens School to conduct a workshop for their teaching staff — a session built around practical strategies for the classroom rather than theory for its own sake. The focus was on things teachers actually use: creativity with limited resources, ways to keep lessons engaging without needing elaborate materials, managing time and energy more sustainably, and using AI tools sensibly for teaching-related tasks.

The session opened with something small. Each teacher was handed a balloon and asked to draw a face on it — whatever expression matched how they were feeling that morning — and write their name beside it. They kept the balloons with them for the rest of the workshop. It wasn't meant as an icebreaker in the usual sense. It was a quiet way of asking teachers to notice their own state of mind at the start of a long week, and to carry that awareness with them as the session went on.

What followed was deliberately interactive. Rather than sitting through a lecture, teachers worked through activities and discussions together, testing ideas on classroom creativity, thinking through how to make familiar lessons more engaging, and talking honestly about workload and productivity. There was a comfortable amount of noise in the room — the kind that usually means people are actually thinking rather than waiting for the session to end.

By the later part of the workshop, most of the balloons were still afloat, and a fair number of faces in the room matched the smiling ones drawn on them a couple of hours earlier. One teacher, tired by the final stretch, ended up popping hers — an entirely understandable moment, and one that got a genuine laugh rather than an awkward one.

The workshop closed the way it began: simply. Instead of a digital feedback form, teachers were given sticky notes and asked to write three things — their feedback on the session, one thing they had learned, and one thing they intended to try in their own classroom. The board filled up quickly, in handwriting rather than templates, which said more about the two hours than any survey could have. Ideas about using interactive activities, trying new classroom management approaches, and experimenting with AI tools for lesson planning showed up again and again, each written in a teacher's own words.

That, ultimately, is the part that matters. A workshop is only as useful as what a teacher carries back into their own classroom on Monday morning. The balloons and the sticky notes were never really the point — they were just a way of making that journey visible, from how a teacher arrived to what they chose to take away.

Good professional development doesn't ask teachers to simply listen. It gives them room to participate, disagree a little, try things out, and reflect honestly on what worked. That was the intention behind this session, and judging by the notes left on the board afterwards, it seems to have landed.

Kestrel's World Education Systems is grateful to the management of Landmark Citizens School for their trust in this collaboration, and for giving their teachers the time and space to engage with it fully. Supporting educators in practical, grounded ways remains at the centre of what we do, and sessions like this one are a reminder of why that work matters.
