Bibi Zainab was incredibly brave: after seeing her family killed at Karbala and being taken captive, she led the survivors, protected her nephew, and spoke boldly in Yazid’s court—exposing injustice and making sure the story of Karbala lived on. Her courage, strength, and powerful words made her a true icon of women’s empowerment.

On the night before Ashura, Imam Hussain gathered his companions and told them that the enemy was concerned only with him. Therefore, he would free them from all obligations. Then he ordered the lights to be turned off so that any one who wished to escape could do so in the darkness in order to avoid the embarrassment of walking out of the battlefield.

“My friends, my companions, tonight is the last night. You have suffered enough. There is still time to save your lives. Tomorrow, they will spare no one. Escape in the darkness of the night. I will have no objections. Go, my friends! Go, my companions!”

Imam Hussain then blew the candles off. There was total darkness. Anyone could have escaped without being noticed.

However, when the lights were turned on again, not a single of them moved away from their positions. The faithful companions had found the truth and each answered in own way that they would not deviate from the right path and would never leave Imam alone.

یہ رسم اپنے قبیلے میں کربلا سے ہے۔

Qasim ibn Hassan (as) was the only martyr in Karbala who went to the battlefield on a horse and came back in pieces. Imam Hussain (as) gathered his body in a shawl, but it was so broken that it was hard to find him whole. His body had been trampled by horses.

‏فَقُلْ تَعَالَوْا نَدْعُ اَبْنَآءَنَاوَاَبْنَآءَكُمْ وَنِسَآءَنَاوَنِسَآءَكُمْ وَاَنْفُسَنَاوَاَنْفُسَكُمْۖ

‏اے رسولؐ اِن سے کہہ دیجیئے کہ تم اپنے فرزند لاؤ ہم اپنے فرزند لاتے ہیں، تم اپنی عورتیں لاؤ ہم اپنی عورتیں لاتے ہیں، تم اپنے نفس لاؤ ہم اپنے نفس لاتے ہیں اور پھر خدا کی بارگاہ میں دعا کریں اور جھوٹوں پر خدا کی لعنت قرار دیں۔

محرم قریب ہے - جوان علم ، پھریرے ، ذوالجناح ، تابوت ، سبیلیں اور دیگر معاملات کو اختتامی مراحل میں داخل کر چکے ہونگے ، نوحہ خواں ، سوز خواں سب بھرپور محنت کے ساتھ اپنے نوحوں کو آخری شکل دے چکے ہونگے ، خواتین عشرے کی تیاری میں مصروف ہونگی ، عزا خانے سجائے جا رہے ہونگے ، اسکاؤٹس کے جوان اپنی ڈیوٹیاں ترتیب دے رہے ہونگے ، مطلب تمام خادمین اپنے اپنے انداز میں غریب زہرا ع کے پرسے کے انتظامات میں مشغول ہونگے ، اکثریت مڈل کلاس گھرانوں میں بجٹ کا معاملہ بھی ہوگا ، لیکن ایک ماں اپنے مخصوص انداز میں کہہ رہی ہونگی " ارے جنکی مجلس ہے وہ خود ہی بندو بست کروادیں گے " اور واقعی ہر سال سے زیادہ بھرپور انداز میں مجلس و جلوس برپا ہونگے ، تبرک بھی زیادہ تقسیم ہوگا ، سبیلیں بھی زیادہ لگے گیں ، یہ قوم کڑوروں ، لاکھوں روپے ایک لمحے میں خرچ کر دیتی مولا ع کے نام پہ ، زندہ باد حسین ع والوں ❤️
