KU Academic Council meeting approves admissions policy for 2027, commencement of new academic year

The Academic Council meeting of the University of Karachi granted approval for admissions for the year 2027. 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑲𝑼 𝑨𝒄𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒎𝒊𝒄 𝑪𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒄𝒊𝒍 𝒂𝒍𝒔𝒐 𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒏𝒆𝒘 𝒂𝒄𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒎𝒊𝒄 𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒓 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝑫𝒆𝒄𝒆𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒓 𝟏𝟓, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔.

The session was held under the chairmanship of the vice chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Tufail on Tuesday. The Academic Council also engaged in detailed deliberations on several important academic and administrative matters.

The Academic Council decided to defer the implementation of affiliated college examinations under the biannual system for one year. In this regard, it was also resolved to constitute a committee comprising faculty members of the University of Karachi and affiliated colleges. This committee will prepare its recommendations within three months and present them at the next meeting of the Academic Council. It is pertinent to mention that from the coming year, examinations of affiliated colleges will be conducted under the semester system.

During the meeting, the Academic Council also approved the nomination of Professor Dr Naeem Ahmed as its representative on the Board of Governors of the Pakistan Studies Centre, and Professor Dr Amena Zahra Ali as the Council’s representative member for the position of Secretary of the Affiliation Committee.

The Academic Council ratified the proceedings of its meeting held on February 24, 2026, and also endorsed the minutes of the Board of the Faculty of Science meeting held on January 12, 2026. Furthermore, it also approved the proceedings of the Board of the Faculty of Education meeting held on March 30, 2026, the Board of Advanced Studies and Research meeting held on December 29, 2025, and the Equivalence Committee meeting held on June 30, 2026.

جامعہ کراچی: اکیڈمک کونسل کا اجلاس، داخلوں برائے 2027ء اور نئے تعلیمی سال کے آغاز کی منظوری

جامعہ کراچی کے وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد طفیل کی زیرِ صدارت آج بروز منگل اکیڈمک کونسل کا اجلاس منعقد ہوا، جس میں داخلوں برائے سال 2027ء کی منظوری سمیت مختلف اہم تعلیمی و انتظامی امور پر تفصیلی غور و خوض کیا گیا۔ اجلاس میں نئے تعلیمی سال کا آغاز 15 دسمبر 2026ء سے کرنے کی منظوری بھی دی گئی۔

اکیڈمک کونسل نے بائی اینول نظام کے تحت امتحانات کے انعقاد سے متعلق فیصلے کو ایک سال کے لیے مؤخر کردیا۔ اس سلسلے میں جامعہ کراچی کے اساتذہ اور الحاق شدہ کالجز کے اساتذہ پر مشتمل ایک کمیٹی تشکیل دینے کا فیصلہ کیا گیا، جو تین ماہ کے اندر اپنی سفارشات مرتب کرکے اکیڈمک کونسل کے آئندہ اجلاس میں پیش کرے گی۔ واضح رہے کہ آئندہ سال سے جامعہ کراچی سے الحاق شدہ کالجز کے امتحانات سیمسٹر سسٹم کے تحت منعقد ہوں گے۔

اجلاس میں بورڈ آف گورنرز، پاکستان اسٹڈیز سینٹر کے لیے اکیڈمک کونسل کے نمائندے کی حیثیت سے پروفیسرڈاکٹر نعیم احمد جبکہ سیکریٹری الحاق کمیٹی کے لیے اکیڈمک کونسل کی نمائندہ رکن کی حیثیت سے پروفیسر ڈاکٹر امینہ زہرہ علی کی نامزدگی کی بھی منظوری دی گئی۔

اکیڈمک کونسل نے اپنے 24 فروری 2026ء کو منعقدہ اجلاس کی روداد کی توثیق کی، جبکہ بورڈ برائے کلیہ علوم کے 12 جنوری 2026ء کو منعقدہ اجلاس کی روداد بھی منظور کرلی گئی۔

علاوہ ازیں، بورڈ برائے کلیہ تعلیم کے 30 مارچ 2026ء، بورڈ برائے اعلیٰ تعلیم و تحقیق کے 29 دسمبر 2025ء اور معادلہ کمیٹی کے 30 جون 2026ء کو منعقدہ اجلاسوں کی روداد کی بھی توثیق کردی گئی۔
