أَوَمَنْ كَانَ مَيْتًا فَأَحْيَيْنَاهُ وَجَعَلْنَا لَهُ نُورًا يَمْشِي بِهِ فِي النَّاسِ كَمَنْ مَثَلُهُ فِي الظُّلُمَاتِ لَيْسَ بِخَارِجٍ مِنْهَا ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ زُيِّنَ لِلْكَافِرِينَ مَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ

Is he who was dead and We have raised him unto life, and set for him a light wherein he walketh among men, as him whose similitude is in utter darkness whence he cannot emerge? Thus is their conduct made fairseeming for the disbelievers.

Meaning of Iqra

Iqra means “read!” It was a command sent down by Allah to our Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah upon him, and according to some Islamic sources it is the first word of the Quran that was sent down through the angel Gabriel in the verses below:

1. Read! In the name of your Lord, who created:

2. created man from a clot [of blood].

3. Read! Your Lord is the most bountiful One

4. who taught by the pen,

5. taught man what he did not know. (Quran 96:1-5)

He] who created death and life to test you [as to] which of you is best in deed - and He is the Exalted in Might, the Forgiving - (Quran 67:2)

وَ لَوۡ نَزَّلۡنَا عَلَیۡکَ کِتٰبًا فِیۡ قِرۡطَاسٍ فَلَمَسُوۡہُ بِاَیۡدِیۡہِمۡ لَقَالَ الَّذِیۡنَ کَفَرُوۡۤا اِنۡ ہٰذَاۤ اِلَّا سِحۡرٌ مُّبِیۡنٌ ﴿۷﴾(7 - الانعام)

And even if We had sent down to you, [O Muhammad], a written scripture on a page and they touched it with their hands, the disbelievers would say, "This is not but obvious magic."

اور اگر ہم تم پر کاغذوں پر لکھی ہوئی کتاب نازل کرتے اور یہ اسے اپنے ہاتھوں سے بھی ٹٹول لیتے تو جو کافر ہیں وہ یہی کہہ دیتے کہ یہ تو (صاف اور) صریح جادو ہے.

کِتٰبٌ اَنۡزَلۡنٰہُ اِلَیۡکَ مُبٰرَکٌ لِّیَدَّبَّرُوۡۤا اٰیٰتِہٖ وَ لِیَتَذَکَّرَ اُولُوا الۡاَلۡبَابِ ﴿۲۹
This is] a blessed Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], that they might reflect upon its verses and that those of understanding would be reminded.

(یہ) کتاب جو ہم نے تم پر نازل کی ہے بابرکت ہے تاکہ لوگ اس کی آیتوں میں غور کریں اور تاکہ اہل عقل نصیحت پکڑیں.

Learning Arabic language is regarded as a rewarding endeavor as is one of the top 5 most spoken languages with an estimated 400 million people speaking it.

When it comes to the importance of learning Arabic language in Islam and its significance in the Muslim’s life, it is central to the Islamic faith and is perceived as the authentic language of Islam since The Holy Quran, our prophet’s Sunnah, and the Islamic heritage are written in it.

According to a hadith reported from Umar ibn al-Khattab (ra), he said:

“تَعَلَّمُوا الْعَرَبِيَّةَ؛ فَإِنَّهَا تُثَبِّتُ الْعَقْلَ، وَتَزِيدُ فِي الْمُرُوءَةِ”

“Learn Arabic for it strengthens the mind and enhances chivalry” [Al-Baihaqi, Shu’ab El-Eman [branches of faith]]
