SECCAP Sindh Electronic Centralized College Admission

The Supreme Court of Pakistan has ruled that a married daughter is eligible for a government job after her father’s death. Justice Mansoor Ali Shah stated that marriage does not affect a woman’s right to economic independence, emphasizing that daughters should have the same rights as sons in such cases.

The verdict came during the hearing of Zahida Parveen’s case, where the court questioned why a married son could get a job while a married daughter could not. Justice Mansoor highlighted that no law restricts a daughter’s eligibility based on her marital status.

This decision sets a significant precedent, ensuring equal employment rights for women. The court disposed of the case, declaring Zahida Parveen eligible for the job in place of her late father.
