The moon has been sighted and a new chapter begins.
Ramadan returns with its quiet hours, its hunger, its reflection and its gentle invitation to reconnect, not only with what we do, but with why we do it.
Every fast begins before the sun rises. Not with food or drink, but with intention. In our tradition, intention does not need to be spoken aloud. It rests in the heart. It is that moment of awareness before suhoor when you remind yourself that tomorrow, you are fasting for the sake of Allah.
As the day unfolds, fasting creates natural pauses, moments of stillness around suhoor, iftar and the night prayer. Here are a few authentic du'aas and reminders you can carry with you throughout the day.
Before suhoor (general du'aa over food):
ุงููููููู
ูู ุจูุงุฑููู ููููุง ููููู ููุฃูุทูุนูู
ูููุง ุฎูููุฑูุง ู
ููููู
Allahumma barik lana fihi wa atสฟimna khayran minhu.
Ya Allah, bless us in it and provide us with better than it.
At the time of breaking the fast:
The moment of iftar is a time when du'aa is accepted. There is no fixed wording required. This is a time to raise your hands and ask Allah for whatever is in your heart, for yourself and for others.
After breaking the fast:
ุฐูููุจู ุงูุธููู
ูุฃู ููุงุจูุชููููุชู ุงููุนูุฑูููู ููุซูุจูุชู ุงููุฃูุฌูุฑู ุฅููู ุดูุงุกู ุงูููููู
Dhahaba al-zamaโu wabtallatil สฟurooq wa thabatal ajru in shaa Allah.
Thirst has gone, the veins are refreshed and the reward is confirmed, if Allah wills.
If you are invited to someoneโs home for iftar:
ุฃูููุทูุฑู ุนููุฏูููู
ู ุงูุตููุงุฆูู
ููููุ ููุฃููููู ุทูุนูุงู
ูููู
ู ุงููุฃูุจูุฑูุงุฑูุ ููุตููููุชู ุนูููููููู
ู ุงููู
ูููุงุฆูููุฉู
Aftara สฟindakum as-saaโimoon, wa akala taสฟamakum al-abrar, wa sallat สฟalaykum al-malaaโikah.
May fasting people break their fast with you, may the righteous eat from your food and may the angels pray for you.
In the stillness of the night, during Taraweeh or personal prayer, remember that not every moment needs a memorized formula. Some moments have words taught to us. Some moments are meant for your own.
You donโt need to memorize everything at once. Save this post. Return to it when the day feels long or the hunger feels heavy. Let it guide you through the quiet moments where worship often settles the deepest.
May this month be a source of healing, presence and nearness to Allah for you and your loved ones.
Ramadan Mubarak ๐
